If you are trying to lighten up Julia, then you won’t want to try Pate de Canard en Croute (boned duck stuffed with pate and wrapped in pastry)! Someone actually made it for my book club last summer. About a million calories, but amazing!

Thanks for the advice! Keep em coming!! šŸ˜€

I think I want to try a Bouillabaisse first.

I’m really excited that you are coming to Texas! What part? Be prepared to never want to leave! Of course, I may be partial šŸ™‚ If you give me an idea of where you are going to be and for how long, I may have some suggestions on some outdoor adventures for ya’ll!

My cousin is getting married in Waco somewhere in October. We’ll be staying at the resort with the whole family doing family stuff. But at some point we’re also going to be visiting Michael’s dad. He lives Dallas. We’ll also check out Austin. I’d love suggestions for things to check out!

Well, if you are going to Austin there is TONS of stuff to check out. Very hip, hippy-ish kinda town. Aside from the normal tourist things to do there I would suggest checking out Barton Springs. It is a spring fed pool with an average temp of 68 degrees year round. October in Texas can run the scope of being hot to fairly warm. If it gets cold here in October it is the end of the month, even then cold means 50-60 degree weather. http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/parks/bartonsprings.htm
The other place I really think you guys would like is Enchanted Rock.

I don’t know if you would be able to fit it in, or if it would be too far off the beaten path for you guys. But with your love of hiking and exploring I highly recommend at least researching it. Plus if you visit Enchanted Rock you are not too far from Fredericksburg. Fredericksburg was settled by German imagrants and the food and shopping there is amazing.
Now for Dallas. Must MUST visit Deep Ellum. Yes, it is the club/party district. However if you love live music there is a little dive there called Trees. The often have big name bands play there. If you happen to miss one of the more well known bands, don’t fret, the cover bands they have are amazing. http://deepellumtexas.com/history/
Those are the big suggestions for the I-35 corridor. If you guys decide to branch out to west Texas, where I live, I have more suggestions!

Great suggestions! I love hiking and hot springs are always a bonus.

I’m going to give you the web sites of the 3 major places I recommend checking out. These are in the areas you mentioned.

Hope this helps and if I think of or discover anything between now and October, I’ll be sure to let you know.

When it gets closer to our trip I’ll hit you up for suggestions. Austin is a must. We both want to do stuff there.

I definitely had the blues after I got back from Vegas at the beginning of this month. I coped with looking at those pictures almost everyday for a week! I had such a good time on the trip- and we’re already scheming our next “staycation”…

Aw! Vegas! I love Vegas. It’s been too long since I’ve been. Can I live vicariously through you? Where did you stay?
