I hate when pics can’t do justice to what the hills really look like. We have TONS of hills here in GA and they always get me. I can imagine how exhausting that was!

I might have to drive over to the WALL of a hill with my nice camera and take evidence. 😉

Butternut squash with caramelized onions and goat cheese sounds SO good to me! Yum!

    1. Lisa Eirene

There wasn’t much goat cheese on the sandwich, or I just didn’t taste it. But everything else was amazing.

Your panini sounds awesome! The hills??? NOT!!! 🙂

My legs were feeling tired just reading about it! We have some killer hills and I know what you mean when you say either commit of get off and walk! I am glad you chose to commit! I bet you feel good about yourself!!!

I would not recommend Michael’s hilly commute to anyone who is not an experienced cyclist–that’s how hard it is.

I love challenges- it makes me want to try an tackle that hill!!! Too bad you are on the other side of the country from me!!! 🙂

If you ever make it out West, hit me up! I’ll take you on some tours. 🙂 Hills or no hills–you decide!

That hill sounds quite impressive!! Well done!! It’s hard to get your heart rate that high while biking so you definitely must have been working hard to climb that sucker.

    1. Lisa Eirene

Yeah my heart was pounding, my legs were ready to give out at any moment…

That sandwich looks awesome. Ryan and I walked by that place once but ended up eating at a little public house down the road because it was much cheaper.
Berry picking on Sauvie Island was the highlight of my weekend.. we rode our bikes!

    1. Lisa Eirene

What kind of berries did you pick? I’ve always wanted to do that. And by the time I remember, summer is over…

It is so annoying how pictures never show the true brutality of hills 😀

Our long rides have a lot of hills in the middle. That’s what happens when you live near mountains. Such good practice though. I found it took me about a year of serious biking the hills before they became much easier in subsequent years.

    1. Lisa Eirene

Hills are great practice. I need to do more of them!

  7. Andrew

I would kill to have killer hills! Way to go sis!

    1. Lisa Eirene

Thanks Andy! I think Michael gave you the tour of his commute last time you guys were here. Brutal. The next time you and Lisa visit we’ll take you on a good bike ride. Michael’s old bike is built for someone 6’4 so it might fit you (at least it will be close).
