Both sugar and wheat make me crave stuff. When I did my grain free challenge, all cravings ceased for carby stuff and sugar stuff. It was amazing. It’s really hard to keep that up in today’s world, though. Corn is everywhere. I am trying to get gluten free, but I still eat it.

I noticed it too when I tried the Slow Carb Diet. Not eating bread made me stop craving it. And honestly, as much as I hated giving up fruit after a few days I didn’t crave it anymore either. And I didn’t really miss it.

    Instant oatmeal makes me hungry.

One good frozen food company I like is Kashi. Their frozen meals are pretty good nutrition wise. Paired with a salad or some steamed veg, and its a total quick dinner winner (eek, rhyming).

So happy I found your blog!

      Hi Julia, thanks for reading!

I haven’t tried Kashi yet but I’ll look for it. I agree, instant oatmeal does NOTHING for me. It must be the sugar in it?? But REAL oatmeal works wonders.

Great post! I think the thing about Diet Soda is the most upsetting for people, myself included. YOu think you’re doing a good thing for yourself by having no calories in your beverages, but it’s making you worse off. I like to do seltzer too, and add a slice of orange, lemon, or lime and it definitely satisfies the craving!

I felt the same way when I heard that diet soda was bad. I was mad! I was like “but I’m doing the right thing.” I grew to love seltzer or sparkling water with lime flavoring in it more than I like soda. Took a bit of adjusting.

I have made that connection too, that the more sugar I have (i.e. pastries, carbs, desserts), the more I crave it. I also crave them a lot when I’m stressed, so it becomes an even bigger “whammy.” It’s a really hard balance for me, b/c I do like to have them, but if I have them, is it going to make me crave them more?

    1. Lisa Eirene

Oh yes! Stress adds to it too.

Bananas. Even when I pair them with peanut butter, I don’t find them filling at all.

It’s hit or miss for me. Sometimes I can eat a banana with peanut butter and honey and be good for a few hours at the gym. Other days it doesn’t work AT ALL.
