I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving at our house on Friday, but not so much at my Mom’s on Thursday. I have no idea what she is serving, nor will I have access to labels to figure the points in anything. Our plan is to have nice big salads (and maybe some of the soup I made tonight) a few hours before we head out there so we won’t be starving to death and binge.

Friday I’m in charge of most of the sides. Bf is doing the turkey, dressing, and potato rolls, but I’m doing carrots, broccoli, potatoes (white and sweet) and green beans. Also planning homemade applesauce. Everything but the dressing will be homemade- no prepacked stuff here.

One way or another, I’ll get through the holiday in one piece and still show a loss for the week. 🙂

I can tell you’re anxious about the holiday at your mom’s. It’s hard when you are not in control of the food or preparation. I learned a long time ago that that stuff can’t be controlled. BUT you are in control of your portion sizes. You can eat a little bit of everything or go crazy and regret it. I know you can do whatever makes you happy! 🙂

Yeah. I just called her and asked what’s on the menu. Aside form ham and turkey and deviled eggs, she has no idea what she is making. That wasn’t any help. The deviled eggs are a trigger food for me. But she’s got a food scale in her pantry, and at the very least I can weigh my meat portions out, and bust out her measuring cups to measure anything else. That way I know exactly what to record later.

When I don’t have access to stuff to measure I use the spoons to measure. A scoop of this, a scoop of that.
