I like to do the innards of fajitas (no tortilla) with extra guacamole, beans on the side and tequila if we’re drinking.

That’s an excellent suggestion. Skipping the tortillas and rice is a good way to save calories. I think Mexican food is one of the healthiest options out there–beans, veggies and meat! Good choices! The hard part is resisting the “goodies”!

    That looks so good!

You know you can always order a Mexican chopped salad without the shell. The other night I ordered a taco with no shell at a restaurant here. They were confused for about a milisecond and then had no problem with it. I could have ordered it regular and dumped it out, but that seemed like such a waste. It was yummy.

That is an excellent suggestion and I will try that next time. I love taco salads but hate it when it comes in a shell. Even if I try not to eat it, I still end up nibbling on the shell.

Que Pasa will definitely be going on my list of places to eat! Thanks for sharing a PDX gem =)

It really is a little gem here. Let me know if you check it out.

Now I’m craving an enchillada. The WHOLE enchillada! 🙂 have a great Thursday Lisa.

Theirs was GOOD. I want to go back and get that. Or the jalapeno mac n’ cheese. Mmmmm.

Spin has been kicking my butt too lately, which is good because that mean bring on the mexican food! Looks like you had a great meal.

Spin was hard last night. That second set of intervals where we increased the resistance was HARD. My legs were burning.

I think the salad minus the bowl would be the healthiest choice. I order my taco salad “naked”. Besides that I think tacos are the healthiest choice!

I was intrigued by their “Green Goddess” or avocado vinaigrette dressings. Next time!

I like to get grilled fish tacos at Mexican places. Mmm and definitely some guacamole!

    1. Lisa Eirene

Yes! Fish tacos are one of my favorites. I love seafood and fish is healthy and low in calories. It’s a pretty “safe” option. Unfortunately, the fish at Que Pasa was breaded in the tacos. I suppose I could have asked for them to make the fish tacos without breading…

I’ve often done fajitas without the tortillas as well and it’s still filling and delicious! I pile on extra salsa and away I go. Plus so many Mexican places offer entrees with tons of veggies so there’s more healthy options than ever before. Just avoid all the unidentified creamy sauces, loads of chips, large flour tortillas, and extra cheeses

So true–the chips, creamy sauces and tortillas are easy to skip to save some calories. Fajitas are a good choice. Even better: fajita salads. Michael and I do that a lot at home.
