Ahh–your beach pictures are beautiful!!! I haven’t been swimming in the ocean since I was a kid. I think I’d be more freaked out about encountering jellyfish and such at this point. I’m such a wimp. 🙂

The last beach we went to, Mauna Kea, I think I got stung by some jelly fish because I felt some stings on parts of my body. So did Michael. We never saw anything, the stinging went away pretty quickly and there wasn’t a mark. So not entirely sure…

How beautiful! I have swam in the ocean a couple times. East Coast near Cape Cod and then down in Mexico and the Grand Cayman when we went on a cruise. I did snorkeling and it was so fun!

Those sound like wonderful vacations! Is the ocean on the East Coast warm?

Haven’t been to the ocean for swimming in the ocean in 20 years. Wow that makes me sound old. Was that gecko trying to save you 15 percent?

    1. Lisa Eirene

Hahaha! He didn’t say much. 🙂

I’m so jealous of your Hawaii beach swimming. That sounds amazing!

The swimming was by far my favorite part of the trip!

Ahhhh I want to go to Hawaii!

Living in NZ I live in the ocean every summer. One of the earliest memories is swimming in the sea. I used to spend my summers at my Nana’s place, and she had 3 beaches within walking distance. I can see the ocean from my house, but it is a marina and not good for swimming.

That sounds wonderful, Jess! What a nice childhood memory. Is the water warm in NZ?

      1. Jess

It can be! I like to go to a specific beach where the water is super clear and warm, and it is usually really sheltered from the wind because of the hills on either side.

I’ve always wanted to go there! It looks amazing. I’m so glad you had a wonderful time Lisa.

It’s a great family vacation spot.

How gorgeous! That gecko photo is especially darling 🙂

I love running while on trips. It’s a great way to see the area, and I’m so interested in the surroundings that I hardly notice any fatigue.

Thank you! I am really happy I was able to get that gecko photo.

You are probably right–I was probably having too much fun to notice aches and pains…

I loved your photos and beach reviews. Going to the beach, beach combing, tide pooling, and walking by the ocean are my #1 ways to relax and unwind over the weekend.

How did you like your underwater camera? I recently got a Fuji XP that is waterproof down to 16 feet. So far so good with the immersion into tide pools.

Hawaii is on our 2013 travel list. I can’t wait! I’ve never been

Thank you, Karen. I had the Go-Pro camera with a waterproof case. The first time we tried it we didn’t set it right so it only recorded a few minutes (and not the sea turtles like I had hoped). The second time it worked great. Once the video is edited I’ll share it!

Hi Lisa, do you have the name of the condo you stayed in, wanna put it in my travel info for kona! Thanks
    Lovely pics by the way

We stayed at the Wyndham timeshare. It was our friend’s timeshare and they invited us to go with them. It was a great place. Good location, close enough to the touristy downtown area.
