dates always cures my dessert craving. i love that you bought those expensive cookies in an act of desperation. maybe you could try baking your own? i bet you just wanted a warm soft cookie, and those store bought ones were rock hard.

sounds like you’re doing really good on this df, gf thing. cant wait to see more.

Haha, silly isn’t it? And it’s funny you say that because I just printed off a few dairy and gluten free recipes for cookies that I am going to try this weekend. The store bought cookies just didn’t do it for me.

I’ve enjoyed reading your blog for a while – you are an inspiration. While I don’t forsee myself going gluten/dairy free in the near future, I have a niece who has celiac disease, so am always on the lookout for good gluten free recipes and just healthier recipes in general.

These chocolates are wonderful, EASY to make and gf if you use the brown rice crispies. I use maple syrup as the sweetener. And I have a silicone tray with 12 small heart molds that I make them in:

Thank you for reading and commenting, Trixie. I have a few recipes that I’m going to try this weekend and if they are good, I’ll share. Maybe your niece will like them, too. Thanks for the link! Checking it out now.

You’re doing so well stickin’ to the plan Lisa. I used to be a “can’t have” thinker, but now, I’m much for of a “can have”. Have a wonderful Thursday.

That’s great that you were able to make that mental switch!

It sounds like you’ve been really good with controlling and dealing with all of your cravings. I don’t have to avoid gluten, but I’ve looked into gluten-free baked goods and am astonished at how expensive they are! Still, I think it’s a good purchase if it helps you avoid bingeing on a food that you shouldn’t eat. Good luck continuing with your new eating habits!

Yes, the cost of these alternative items are almost enough to deter me!

I was sent 3 boxes of Dr. Lucy’s cookies for a gluten free blog I work on

    http://www.drlucys.com/

They are AMAZING and very low in calories – like 30 calories a cookie.

    1. Lisa Eirene

Thanks! I will check them out.

Sometimes you have to wonder if you’re really getting what you order at a restaurant…

    1. Lisa Eirene

Very true! I remember reading about how a lot of chain restaurants were posting their calories in the menu but then when someone investigated, they were wildly inaccurate. The calorie counts were based on the test kitchen dishes, not the restaurant dishes.

When I was successful with weight loss, I used the CAN approach. It defienitley worked for me. When I struggle (like right now!) I have to remember this. There’s always a lot more CAN food than can’t foods, at least for me!

I love your attitude! I think I will adopt it in order to look on the bright side of things.

I keep my food budget low by not buying gluten free junk food. My wallet can’t tolerate it and the very best advice I got when I moved from weight loss to weight transition was “Don’t bring your Standard American Diet with you when you transition”.

Cookies are a trigger food for me, so even gluten free versions are off the plate ( love that pun). Every once in a while, I’ll make a gluten free brownie- single serving- because it’s left over from weight loss. Maybe for my birthday or something.

Good luck and keep going. One of the best things is the time when you start to re-introduce foods into your diet to see what makes you feel great and what makes you feel funky.

It’s hard stuff to change up your diet. Good job on hanging tough though the month. LOTS of people pack back the Paleo/Primal gluten free goodies with good effects (not feeling deprived, etc).

Out of trigger and budget structures- I got super tough with myself- to avoid relapse and regain. That’s just me, just one way. Finding your own way is key.

I salute you on the work you are doing. I can’t wait to see what your learnings are in March! 🙂

    1. Lisa Eirene

Thanks for your advice. I took it to heart because you are right, buying the pre-packaged stuff isn’t great and it breaks the bank. I decided to make my own! I found some healthy recipes that fall under my restrictions and went to the store to get what I needed. Did you know dairy free chocolate chips are $6 a bag? Good god.

When I eat I always focus on what I can eat, otherwise I just crave stuff. As long as I tell myself that I don’t want it, rather than not being allowed it, I don’t get major cravings. I couldn’t give up chocolate/desserts though… Hats off to you!

    1. Lisa Eirene

It was so hard giving up chocolate! I did find an alternative. I’ll share it soon.
