    Those places you mentioned are great for finding affordable work out clothes, when I started running I couldn’t believe how expensive the clothes could be! Ridiculous! I secretly love that Lululemon is getting so much negative press – their pants are no better than cheaper ones and they are ripping people off with those prices! Looking cute is unimportant to me when working out. I just need my pants to stay up when I run.

    Do not buy Target’s workout clothes however. Sometimes they have cute stuff and when it’s on clearance it’s hard to resist, but lesson learned. I bought some of the dry-fit type t-shirts there and for some reason they create the most horrible BO!!! My friend bought some work-out shorts there and said the same thing, they made her incredibly smelly. Must be the type of fabric they use, it doesn’t feel extremely cheap but it is bad stuff.

      Thanks for the tips on Target! I’ve been there a few times and considered the workout clothes but they never fit me quite right. That is nasty that they smell!!!

    We did a 5K Halloween race in costume and there were lots of other people in costumes. However, there was this one woman that passed us while walking that was walking super fast in knee high, high-heeled boots! I was fascinated. She was kinda dressed up too with nice jeans and a sweater! Very strange!

    I love the pictures in this post 🙂 Once I finally invested in real workout clothes I couldn’t believe the difference from just wearing old T-shirts!

      It makes a HUGE difference! I used to wear the sweat pants and cotton tees too. How uncomfortable!

    SNAP! I can’t wear sleeves either. I end up hot and miserable, and very tempted to just take the top off and finish up in my sports bra. I always wear a fitting, sweat wicking singlet top (I have the same style in a million colours – why mess with success?) and either running shorts or fitting, knee length gym pants. It works for me. I cringe whenever I see someone workout in cotton, especially when they come near me because they stink.

      Yes! I found a sleeveless shirt that wicks and works great and I bought three in different colors. I agree, why mess with success!

    I wish I had read a post like this before I started working out! Moisture wicking clothing is so important, especially for women. It’s right up there with having a good sports bra. I really love Danskin’s plus size line that walmart carries. It’s not terribly expensive and the clothes are well made.

      Agreed! A good sports bra makes a huge difference. I love my brand. It has a thick underwire that keeps things from bouncing around and it’s super comfortable.

    There is a guy on my street who is a beginner runner, I can tell because he alternates short bursts of running with walking but he does it all in jeans. Makes me cringe. I can only imagine the chaffing.

    I buy probably 90% of my workout clothes from Old Navy. They fit, they are comfortable, they don’t smell and they are usually really cheap. I wear mostly compression pants because as a chubby girl those pants hold everything in place while I am bouncing around, shorts ride up between my hungry thighs sadly. I wear Old Navy’s normal tank tops on top because they just breath easier for me and I can’t stand sleeves either!

    I am going to have to try a sweat band though! I still haven’t.

    I found that I have to wear stuff that is somewhat form fitting. I used to go to the gym in baggy stuff and then realized how hot and sweaty I got and how droopy those clothes ended up being!

    I am not a fashionista – just practical. I am the one who wears long underwear underneath biking capris LOL!

      Agreed! My workout gear is form fitting. It’s more comfortable, there’s no bunching or riding up…
