Instead of dropping total calories, I would suggest lowering your carbs slightly and increasing fat and protein. And see if that shift helps. (I do not think 2010 and the government are a good combination for a recommendation.) My opinion is always – want to keep calorie base as high as possible because the difference between weight loss and maintenance is about one serving/100 calories. Have to leave yourself sustainable.

I am starting to agree with you. I’ve checked out a lot of different diets and the recommendations are always a little off for me–either they say I should be eating 2000+ calories a day or the carbs are too high…I haven’t found a “diet” yet that seems to be what I’m looking for. I have started reading about carb cycling, though, and I’m working on a post for next week.

Maybe you knew, tomatoes are actually a fruit and that is why their counts are so high.

I did but was shocked at how high tomatoes are. It’s really crazy to me.

have you tried Rao’s marinara sauce?
my BFF who is diabetic recommends it as the lowest carb/sugar jarred sauce at the supermarket
and my mama recommends it as being “almost as good as hers” LOL
    It’s 4 g carbs for 1/2 cup

Thank you for the recommendation! I will look for it.

    Nice progress!

I eat a little more Zone style, 40% carbs, 30 fat and 30 protein. Sometimes I tweak that to be more protein, but I don’t do that as often because I’m not doing the heavy lifting I used to. The fat helps so much. We hardly ever have lower fat items, preferring real butter, regular cheese (or 2%), etc. A lot of my daily carbs come from dairy – and those weekly bagels LOL!

We do that too. Full fat items like real butter, regular cheese, nothing “low” or non-fat!

I am jealous of your bagels. 😉
