I am so sorry to hear about your knee. But I AM glad that your doc seems to have given you a really good strategy to try and fix it (rather than the ‘well if it hurts dont run’ attitude) šŸ™‚

Well that sorta sounds like all good news.

I have had acupuncture (now I can’t even remember what it was specifically for – maybe pains in places?), and it did immediately help but the pain came back within days. Chris went a few times for stomach issues, and they cleared up entirely but we’re not totally certain which factors solved it.

I was not big on looking at the needles but it didn’t hurt, and if it hurts or burns you need to tell them.

Thanks for the tips! I will try anything at this point.

    Hello Lisa,

I came to your blog after reading your comment about the ice bath over at Amanda’s blog. I would recommend getting in the tub with water, no ice first, then add the ice to the water after you have adjusted to the tap water. Also, put on a sweatshirt, cover your ears, gloves, and hot tea or coffee. Get an aquarium thermometer and get the water down to around 52 degrees. It helps a LOT. Good Luck!

Wow thank you for the tips! I will have to try that. I had no idea how to do it.

I’m sorry you can’t run for 6 weeks, but I’m glad you listened to your body and took it easy after Hood to Coast. Don’t get discouraged! You can focus on swimming which is a fantastic workout anyway.
I’ve never done acupuncture so you’ll have to let me know how it goes!
Also, congrats on the weight loss!

Thank you Becky. Honestly I’m upset about not being able to run BUT I have been training hard for over a year. I think my body needs to rest.

you are right, your body needs a break! once your knee feels better I bet you’ll be running faster than ever before!

I am kind of curious about how my performance will be after resting. I’ve read that resting for a few weeks is good!

Acupuncture is a piece of cake, you’ll be fine! You will probably feel pressure and maybe a little prick but other then that it should be painless.

I’m glad that your diagnosis was good and that you will only be out of action for a few weeks
