First off the parking lot was a madhouse. I finally parked and headed inside to more throngs of people everywhere. It was so crowded it was almost difficult to just walk around people.<\/p>\n<p>I had very little hope that I&#8217;d get in a workout but I decided to give it a try. I changed and headed to the cardio room. Lucky for me I found a free treadmill! Miracle! I claimed it and started my run.\u00a0 I warmed up walking for 5 minutes and then started to jog.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/gym1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-11382\" title=\"gym1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/gym1-300x289.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"289\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/gym1-300x289.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/gym1.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nMy run was bipolar at best. It started out <strong>rocky<\/strong>. I was having weird pains and aches in both legs, ankles, shins&#8230;they were all weird sensations I never really had before. I started to feel depressed. I was ready to give up and announce <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>&#8220;I&#8217;m Quitting Running&#8221; <\/strong><\/span>when I reached about .91 miles and suddenly the discomfort was gone. Was it just the aches and pains of warming up? Who knows.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/45min.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-11377\" title=\"45min\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/45min-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My moods swung in the opposite direction and I was immediately elated that I could run with no pain. In fact, I increased the speed because it felt BETTER to run faster!<\/p>\n<p>I was nearing the end of my run and thankfully so because <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Guy With Too Much Cologne<\/span><\/strong> got on the treadmill next to me. And on my right was a woman shouting into her cellphone. Ugh. <strong><em>Bad gym etiquette people!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/3miles.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-11378\" title=\"3miles\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/3miles-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nI completed 3 MILES for the first time since September when <a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/?p=5854\">I injured myself after Hood to Coast<\/a>.\u00a0 I cooled down with a walk and then headed down to the weight room.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/weights.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-11379\" title=\"weights\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/weights-e1294249629264-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/weights-e1294249629264-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/weights-e1294249629264.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nI was happy to see the crowds had thinned out a bit. I was feeling good about running 3 miles! Michael and I had <a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/?p=2151\">blackened salmon<\/a> for dinner.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/salmon.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-11385\" title=\"salmon\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/salmon-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/salmon-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/salmon.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nI topped our salads with the cooked salmon. My salad was green leaf lettuce with celery, carrots and croutons. Most of the time I save half the salmon for lunch the next day but I was famished. I suppose that has something to do with running more.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/dinner2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-11388\" title=\"dinner2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/dinner2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/dinner2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/dinner2.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAfter dinner we watched the Anthony Bourdain holiday special (I know, a little late) and split the last of the Christmas cookies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/cookies.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-11389\" title=\"cookies\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/cookies-e1294252885642-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/cookies-e1294252885642-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/cookies-e1294252885642.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nYeah&#8230;I&#8217;m not doing so great with the &#8220;eat less sugar&#8221; thing&#8230;At least not right now. I&#8217;m working on it.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>QUESTION: Why do you think the January newbies at the gym drop out within a month or two?
