Portland is unlike any other part of the United States–or so I’m told by people who visit here. I’m biased though. I spent the first 19 years of my life in Seattle and honestly? Portland is just like Seattle only a little smaller and a little warmer. \ud83d\ude42 Home-grown Oregonians will shank you if you say that though. Do NOT compare Portland to Seattle.<\/p>\n
Pfft. Whatever. It rains in both places. It’s gray more days than sunny. It’s full of trees and hippies and computer companies. Everyone in the NW has a direct IV of coffee into their veins and yes we all ride bikes. (LOL)<\/p>\n

If you haven’t seen the new skit TV show “Portlandia” I recommend it. Not just because I live in Portland but because it’s funny. It makes fun of Portland Hipsters: bearded, vintage clothes-wearing-PBR-drinking-funky glasses-wearing Hipsters.\u00a0 Hipsters are usually well educated yet they work at a coffeeshop. You know the type…they have a Masters Degree in Poetry and sling coffee at Stumptown showcasing their piercings and tattoos. \ud83d\ude09 (I love the look, actually, and have a few tattoos of my own.)<\/p>\n
It’s a 30 minute skit show that takes place in a West-Coast Hipster <\/a>Mecca. It also stars Fred Armisen from SNL and Carrie Brownstein from Sleater-Kinney.<\/p>\n One of the TRUEST moments describing Portland was in the first episode where Fred and Carrie are playing characters at a restaurant. They want to order chicken but they need to make sure they like how the chicken was treated before he was killed. They ask all these ridiculous question in soft voices and ask the waitress if she had any “papers” on the chicken. The waitress returns with a file folder on Colin the Chicken–complete with photos and stories of him being raised on sheep’s milk, hazelnuts and how he was free to roam on the farm. Too funny.<\/p>\n Enjoy!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a>
