Tiffany took the train from Seattle to see some friends and a play and invited me along.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Opus-751x1024jpeg-180x246.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16729\" title=\"Opus-751x1024jpeg-180x246\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Opus-751x1024jpeg-180x246.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"180\" height=\"245\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAfter work I had a quickie dinner at home of leftovers and then met her at a bar downtown for a pre-show drink.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/giltclub.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-16733\" title=\"giltclub\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/giltclub-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/giltclub-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/giltclub.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nWe met at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.giltclub.com\/\">The Gilt Club<\/a> in downtown Portland. I&#8217;ve been wanting to try the place for a long time but was rather intimidated by their menu. Just to give you an idea of their menu items:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Chicken liver<\/strong> toast with olio verde,                 arugula, and onion agrodolce<\/li>\n<li><strong>Duck liver mousse<\/strong> with cherries, pistachios,                 and pancetta<\/li>\n<li><strong>Elk tartar<\/strong> with duck fat french fries, duo of mustards, herb salad<\/li>\n<li>Pan seared <strong>foie gras!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know if I&#8217;m that brave yet! Maybe someday. Tiffany ordered the <strong>Burrata: <\/strong>a ball of cheese with basil seed, basil puree, petite flower salad, grilled bread.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/cheese1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-16734\" title=\"cheese1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/cheese1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/cheese1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/cheese1.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nIt was a very attractive presentation. We were both expecting the cheese to be warm, but it was ice cold. The flavor was super mild. Not just because I like lemon and it sounded yummy but the name was just awesome. I&#8217;ve walked by the theatre a million times but I&#8217;ve never been inside. Now I want to see tons more plays here! In front of an audience they\u2019re pitch perfect  but behind the scenes the Lazara string quartet is coming unstrung- all  on the eve of their first televised performance for the President of the  United States. There\u2019s sex, there\u2019s drugs, there\u2019s\u2026chamber music, but  the real rewards lie in Hollinger\u2019s insights into the balancing act of  drudgery, machination and volatile genius that make a seemingly  effortless performance possible.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It sounded intriguing when Tiffany invited me and I said yes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/opusplay.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-16740\" title=\"opusplay\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/opusplay-e1303487671938-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/opusplay-e1303487671938-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/opusplay-e1303487671938.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nIt was such a good play! I had an amazing time.\u00a0 The place was packed. I never noticed that I  sat for 100 minutes without an intermission. It was an engrossing story,  the acting was convincing and I felt every range of emotion they  inspired. I laughed, I cried a bit, I felt sad for the imploding  relationships.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/5619209171_2881673c2f.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-16728\" title=\"A giddy moment for the quartet (Chris Hietikko, Sarah Stevens, Greg Jackson, Chris Coleman) after a triumphant performance in Opus written by Michael Hollinger and directed by Brendon Fox.  Playing through May 8 at Portland Center Stage. It was a really powerful play and I had such a good time! It reminded me how much I like doing things like this. I need to do more in the arts like I used to.<\/p>\n<p>Funny, I see now how much my life because about TRAINING and RACING. Running, training for Hood to Coast, training on the bike, thinking about a triathlon&#8230;all fun things but totally time consuming. Fitness can take over your life and it&#8217;s easy to let other hobbies go by the wayside. I need to remedy that.<\/p>\n<p>I had a great Girl&#8217;s Night. Michael went out with a friend for pizza, Keno and the Blazer game.
