I saved a few and I&#8217;ve tried a few. I wanted to try all of them.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">&#8220;In Paris for a weekend visit, Elizabeth Bard sat down to lunch with a handsome Frenchman&#8211;and never went home again. Was it love at first sight? Or was it the way her knife slid effortlessly through her\u00a0<em>pav\u00e9 au poivre,\u00a0<\/em>the steak&#8217;s<em><\/em>pink juices puddling into the buttery pepper sauce?&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I tried another <a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/?p=24142\">recipe<\/a> from the book and it was a lovely (and fairly easy) recipe.<\/p>\n<p>[amd-zlrecipe-recipe:4]<\/p>\n<p>I had a bunch of dried lentils on hand that I never got around to using. I&#8217;d stocked up when Michael and I were doing the Slow Carb Diet because it recommended lentil soup. Unfortunately, I never got around to making the lentil soup. I decided to make it for dinner because I was already home <a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/?p=26863\">taking care of my kitty<\/a> so I had extra time. I normally would not attempt to make something like this on a week night otherwise.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2774.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-26882\" title=\"IMG_2774\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2774-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2774-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2774-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nI used a mixture of both shallots and chopped onion. I wish I could remember what kind of onion I had on hand&#8211;it might be a Walla Walla Sweet. I used two small carrots and chopped them up.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2775.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-26907\" title=\"IMG_2775\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2775-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2775-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2775-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nI added the lentils to the mix, coated them and then added the rest of the ingredients to simmer for an hour. It took a little longer than an hour for the majority of the liquid to cook off. Michael cooked two salmon fillets in the skillet seasoned with salt and pepper. The salmon doesn&#8217;t take long to cook, so maybe sure the lentils are 99% done before starting the fish.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2778.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-26915\" title=\"IMG_2778\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2778-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2778-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2778-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I served dinner in a shallow pasta bowl. The lentils were cooked perfectly. I topped them with a dollop of light sour cream, add a few springs of parsley and cilantro.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2781.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-26918\" title=\"IMG_2781\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2781-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2781-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2781-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I topped the lentils with the salmon and then squeezed some fresh lime juice on everything.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2784.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-26921\" title=\"IMG_2784\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2784-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2784-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2784-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The verdict: the recipe wasn&#8217;t necessarily difficult but it was time consuming. I liked the combination of the salmon and the lentils and the sour cream was a <em>must<\/em>. I loved the flavors it added.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2788.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-26925\" title=\"IMG_2788\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2788-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2788-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_2788-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lentils can be rather boring in flavor I think. And healthy too and if you&#8217;re doing the Slow Carb Diet this is a great recipe for you. I halved the recipe and it still made <em>a ton<\/em>\u00a0of lentils.
