Over the weekend some of the cousins got together for a mini family reunion down on my aunt’s farm. It was sort of weird to do it without the entire family but I’m glad this generation is trying to keep the tradition going even though life is busy for everyone these days! Michael, Logan and I drove down Saturday mid-day. Some people were camping, some people were sleeping inside. Thankfully we got a bedroom! We are just not ready to attempt camping with a baby yet.<\/p>\n

So we got the best of both worlds–sort of camping without having to sleep outside!<\/p>\n

Logan did great on the drive down…until we were 20 minutes away and then he started screaming. Yikes. We arrived as everyone was heading down to the river. I changed Logan and fed him and then he was good to go. The three of us sat outside with my cousin Kristin, who unfortunately broke her leg recently so she wasn’t swimming.<\/p>\n

We had intentions to go down to the river and never actually made it down there. Bummer. But we were busy with the baby anyways.<\/p>\n

If you follow me on Instagram you can see the video of Logan seeing cows for the first time<\/a>! They were a huge hit. \ud83d\ude42 It is so cool seeing things through Logan’s eyes. It’s like you get to experience things in a brand new way with the baby.<\/p>\n

We sat in the shade and enjoyed a nice, cold beer while we caught up on things. Then everyone got back from the river. No scavenger hunt this year, but there was a game of bocce ball:<\/p>\n

And then it was time to eat. Dinner was a potluck. Grilled cheeseburgers and a bunch of different kinds of salads and fruit. It was delicious!<\/p>\n

My cousin’s fiance made this amazing tortellini pasta salad that I want to make. It was so good I had two servings. Seriously worth the calories.<\/p>\n

It was a very chill, low-key weekend. Different than the usually reunion that has 100+ people and tons of food and stuff to do. It was kinda nice just relaxing in the shade.<\/p>\n

Evening came and we gathered around the fire pit, another favorite tradition. Logan was in his crib and I checked on him every 10 minutes or so. Eventually he woke up and was really fussy (I think it was too hot) so I brought him down by the fire and the cool night air made him more comfortable. First campfire!<\/p>\n

I fed him and he finally fell asleep and I went back down to the fire for a little bit before heading to bed.<\/p>\n

Sunday morning Logan woke us up bright and early (of course) and no one else was awake yet. Michael went for a run and Logan and I cuddled in bed.<\/p>\n

Michael got back from his run and said people were starting to wake up so I got up. I needed some coffee ASAP. I brought along this coffee to check out:<\/p>\n

It sounded really interesting to me. It was just ok. It was a little on the weird side and I’m not sure why–maybe because it was dairy free? I don’t know. BUT I wanted an iced coffee and this satisfied that craving! Breakfast:<\/p>\n

We hung out for a little bit then it was time to clean up, pack up, and head out. Maybe next year we can try real camping with the baby.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
