I haven&#8217;t been to Mount Rainier since I was a kid and I barely remember it! But we wanted somewhere kind of remote to visit, where there weren&#8217;t a lot of crowds (covid) and good hiking nearby! My parents joined us. The house we rented was super cute and perfect for us. The drive there was&#8230;.interesting. Very rural. Not much to see, lots of tr*mp\/confederate flag\/don&#8217;t tread on me flags in people&#8217;s yards&#8230;.it was definitely a&#8230;vibe. It was disconcerting but, Mount Rainier was fine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We arrived Thursday evening and got settled in. Friday we had a lazy morning and then went for a hike near the house we rented. We did <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alltrails.com\/trail\/us\/washington\/skate-creek-trail\">Skate Creek Hike<\/a>, 2 miles roundtrip through old forest and along a very low river (I&#8217;m sure it&#8217;s bigger in the winter time). It was really pretty and we barely saw anyone!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-3 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul \/><\/a><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After the hike we went back to the house for lunch and naps. \ud83d\ude00 Then my mom stayed behind at the house with Bella and the 4 of us drove up to Mount Rainier to do another hike. Most of the hikes IN the National Park don&#8217;t allow dogs, so Bella couldn&#8217;t come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second hike we did was the <a href=\"https:\/\/visitrainier.com\/grove-of-the-patriarchs-2\/\">Grove of the Patriarchs<\/a> and it was super cool! Lots of really huge trees! It was a little freaky. It was a nice start to the vacation. That night we picked up pizza at the local restaurant and watched a movie.
