It was pouring rain (and still is) so the gym was pretty crowded. My plan for the workout:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Do my typical Saturday weight lifting routine<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Work in my new strengthening exercises the doc gave me.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Do Day 1 of Return To Running Plan!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>I wasn&#8217;t quite sure what to do first. Weights or Treadmill? I decided to do weights first. To be honest with you, I was a tad nervous to attempt the treadmill. I guess I am a little gun-shy after the injury and time off.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3699.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7389\" title=\"IMG_3699\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3699-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3699-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3699-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3699.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>I didn&#8217;t think much about the impending treadmill attempt while I lifted weights. I focused on the routine and my goals. I was also thinking a lot about my morning weigh-in. It was a good time. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3700.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7390\" title=\"IMG_3700\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3700-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3700-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3700-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3700.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Seeing results on the scale was a HUGE motivating force. When you see results, it propels you to work harder and try harder!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3701.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7391\" title=\"IMG_3701\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3701-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3701-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3701-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3701.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>I went to the other section of the gym and worked on my core. I used the medicine ball and did the Russian Twist, then I did some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abs-exercise-advice.com\/plank.html\">planks<\/a>. Oh my god! My ENTIRE body was shaking as I held the plank for 15 seconds each time. Wow, what a workout!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3702.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7392\" title=\"IMG_3702\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3702-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3702-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3702-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3702.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>One thing I noticed about the planks (and doing push ups) is that it&#8217;s really hard for me to do with my wrist tendinitis. Putting all that pressure on my wrist just HURTS. Anyone know any tips for working around something like that?<\/p>\n<p>I then spent about 10 minutes working on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/?p=7350\">strengthening exercises<\/a> my doctor gave me. My right hip was shaking during some of them. I&#8217;m not sure if that&#8217;s a good thing&#8211;or if it just means that it&#8217;s working?<\/p>\n<p>By this time, I had been working out for over an hour.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3703.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7393\" title=\"IMG_3703\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3703-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3703-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3703-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3703.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>During that hour, I burned a total of 573 calories during that time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3704.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7394\" title=\"IMG_3704\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3704-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3704-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3704-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3704.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>Next up? Time to go downstairs and try the treadmill. Because my instinct was to jack up the treadmill to a comfortable running pace and RUN. But I&#8217;m determined to be a good girl and do what the doctor said to do. <strong>Here is my Week 1 Routine:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Walk 1\u00a0 minute<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Jog 1 minute<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Walk 1 minute<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Jog 1 minute<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And so on for ONLY ONE MILE. I thought it would be a cinch&#8211;I did 17 miles for Hood to Coast man! I can do 1 mile! Like I said, it was hard to hold myself back. Especially when I&#8217;m pumping a little Fiddy Cent on my iPod. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3708.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7396\" title=\"IMG_3708\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3708-200x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3708-200x300.png 200w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3708.png 320w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Upbeat music (like Urban and hip hop or pop) was what I listened to during my runs. The high energy would move my legs for me. So I walked for 1 minute, then 1 did a slow jog.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3709.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7397\" title=\"IMG_3709\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3709-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3709-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3709-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_3709.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>For the Jog portion of my workout, I set the treadmill at 3.5 for speed. It was slow. I could probably walk that pace honestly but I wanted to ease into jogging and see how my body felt. It felt really good to move like that again! I strictly followed doctor&#8217;s orders and was sure to walk after a minute.
