The author points out that many chain restaurants can&#8217;t afford to buy healthy, whole foods from Farmer&#8217;s Markets and if they did use quality food they&#8217;d serve much smaller portions. Very eye-opening!<\/p>\n<p>I also discovered this awesome website: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.healthydiningfinder.com\/\">Healthy Dining Finder<\/a>. Type in your zip code and it gives you a list of nearby restaurants and the calorie counts of their healthiest foods. Awesome!<\/p>\n<p>So what are some tricks I use to order smart in a restaurant?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">1. Don&#8217;t add salt to anything in a restaurant. There&#8217;s already tons of salt in the dishes!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">2. Skip the appetizers. They are usually fried, fattening and not healthy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">3. As soon as the food arrives, put half in a Doggy Bag for lunch the next day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">4. Split the entree with your partner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">5. Order soup and a salad with dressing on the side.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">6. If the food is &#8220;creamy&#8221; or has gravy, skip it! Creamy = fattening.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">7. Drink a lot of water.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">8. Skip the bread basket. Especially if you&#8217;re ordering an appetizer.
