I was too tired. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/?p=4714\">Nothing I did worked<\/a>, etc etc etc.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Exercise-Machine.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8257\" title=\"Exercise-Machine\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Exercise-Machine-300x234.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Exercise-Machine-300x234.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Exercise-Machine.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So how does one overcome those negative self-talk thoughts and Just Do It?<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re a regular reader of my blog, then you&#8217;ve probably noticed a lot of my advice is &#8220;Just Do It.&#8221; It may not be a tangible motivation but honestly it really is as simple as that.<\/p>\n<p>There are many days that I just don&#8217;t feel like going to the gym. The idea of getting wet in the pool and taking a second shower can be bleak. Or battling traffic and parking garages to GO to the gym&#8230;ugh!! But 100% of the time I am grateful that I forced myself to just do it.<\/p>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t every excuse in the book, but here&#8217;s a few:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Obstacle:\u00a0 Fear.<\/strong> Are you afraid of trying the machines at the gym because you don&#8217;t know how to use them? And everyone else seems to know how?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Solution: <\/span>Sign up for a session with a personal trainer and ask them to show you how to use the machines. Watch other people use the machines. There are several machines that I had to use &#8220;trial and error&#8221; in order to figure them out! Trying new things, seeing progress&#8230;it can all lead to positive changes in your life. Write down everything you&#8217;re afraid of changing and why it scares you. Then focus on changing your thought process.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/running-in-rain11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8251\" title=\"running-in-rain11\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/running-in-rain11-300x175.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"175\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/running-in-rain11-300x175.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/running-in-rain11.jpg 498w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><strong>Obstacle: Bad weather.<\/strong> This time of year it&#8217;s easy to make excuse not to exercise&#8230;cold, rainy, snowy, wet&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Solution:<\/span> Go to the gym. Or walk\/run the stairs in your office building during lunch. Try an exercise video from Netflix or the library. Do yoga with a friend.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/kids_exercising.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8253\" title=\"kids_exercising\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/kids_exercising-300x195.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"195\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/kids_exercising-300x195.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/kids_exercising.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><strong>Obstacle: No child care.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Solution:<\/span> Workout with our kids. Kids are never too young to learn the benefits of exercise. Go for a walk to the park, run around the park, do yoga. Show your kids how to do yoga. Ask a friend to babysit.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/tired_kitten.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8247\" title=\"tired_kitten\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/tired_kitten-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/tired_kitten-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/tired_kitten.jpg 584w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><strong>Obstacle: Too tired.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Solution:<\/span> Often times the hardest part of exercising is putting on those shoes. Just do it! Exercise energizes the body and the mind.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/bored.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8259\" title=\"bored\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/bored-300x268.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"268\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/bored-300x268.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/bored.jpg 468w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><strong>Obstacle: Exercising is boring.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Solution:<\/span> Choose an activity you ENJOY. Swimming. Hiking. Even walking with a friend. Or do what Michael does: sets up his bike in the living room on the bike trainer and watches TV while he works out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/BrokeDown.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8255\" title=\"BrokeDown\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/BrokeDown.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/BrokeDown.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/BrokeDown-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Obstacle:\u00a0 Memberships are too expensive. <\/strong>Can&#8217;t afford exercise equipment\/clothes\/gym memberships.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Solution:<\/span> Read my post on how to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/?p=6898\">Exercise Without Breaking the Bank<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Results-new-logo1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8262\" title=\"Results new logo\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Results-new-logo1-300x161.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"161\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Results-new-logo1-300x161.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Results-new-logo1-1024x550.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Results-new-logo1.jpg 1275w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><strong>Obstacle: It takes too long to see results.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Solution:<\/span> Actually, if done correctly results should be immediate. Now, the weight loss won&#8217;t be drastic immediately but exercise + diet DOES work. Weight lifting really does work! The results are usually pretty fast too.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Obstacle: &#8220;I jiggle too much when I work out.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Solution<\/span>: Wear dark, loose fitting clothes. And honestly, the jiggle will go away once you lose weight! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><strong>Obstacle: &#8220;I&#8217;m too embarrassed to work out in front of other people.&#8221; <\/strong>That&#8217;s a pretty common one I hear, especially from women.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Solution:<\/span> Try going to Curves. Curves is a women&#8217;s only gym. If you&#8217;re intimidated by working out in front of men, or using complicated machines, this is always an option.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/@spandex1-man.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8422\" title=\"@spandex1-man\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/@spandex1-man-153x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"153\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/@spandex1-man-153x300.jpg 153w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/@spandex1-man.jpg 492w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 153px) 100vw, 153px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Obstacle: &#8220;People will judge me.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Solution:<\/span> Actually, most people are too busy being self-absorbed to notice others! They are focused on their own workouts, how THEY look in their spandex to notice. (The only people I notice are people that stand out&#8230;like the girl in a dress and stripper boots on the elliptical.:) Or the guy that&#8217;s grunting super loudly.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/spa_fitness_masthead.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8424\" title=\"spa_fitness_masthead\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/spa_fitness_masthead-300x296.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"296\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/spa_fitness_masthead-300x296.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/spa_fitness_masthead.jpg 525w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Obstacle: &#8220;I&#8217;m not fit enough to work out.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Solution:<\/span> That&#8217;s kind of a chicken and egg scenario if you ask me, and not a very valid excuse. Go for a walk. Start walking 30 minutes every day and build up to something. Then go to a gym and watch the progress you make! That&#8217;s half the fun!<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>QUESTION: What excuses do you make for not working out?
