What is Goal Weight?<\/p>\n<p>Well for two years, goal weight for me was 150 pounds. It was a reasonable number I thought I could achieve.<\/p>\n<p>Focusing on a number for a long time changes your focus. It&#8217;s easy to get obsessed in that number. It&#8217;s also easy to put impossible expectations on yourself&#8230;.which then lead to disappointment and frustration.<\/p>\n<p>Something else that happens with &#8220;Goal Weight&#8221; mentality is that once you GET to Goal Weight&#8230;.The Goal Changes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/005_05.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8891\" title=\"005_05\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/005_05-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/005_05-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/005_05-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/005_05.jpg 1772w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Goal Changes<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I reached 150 pounds over 2 years ago and decided I could lose &#8220;just a few more.&#8221; That Just A Few More thinking never really stops. I got down to 143 pounds and thought&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If only I can just make it to 140! A nice round number&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Then the Goal Changes and 140 is now the goal. Yet, it&#8217;s been elusive and unattainable thus far. So my brain changed and suddenly I thought I was &#8220;not good enough&#8221; because I hadn&#8217;t reached that goal.<\/p>\n<p>Really?<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve surpassed Goal Weight. 150 was my goal. I&#8217;m under that. That should be Good Enough.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/loose-weight-now-cartoon.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8855\" title=\"loose-weight-now-cartoon\" src=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/loose-weight-now-cartoon-300x240.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/loose-weight-now-cartoon-300x240.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/loose-weight-now-cartoon.jpg 356w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Monday I posted about my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.110pounds.com\/?p=8758\">less than stellar weigh-in<\/a>. Here are the stats (2 pounds less today than Monday ironically):<\/p>\n<p><strong>October: \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 November: <\/strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">CHANGE:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Weight: 145.2 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Weight: 146.5 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">+1.3<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Waist: 33.5 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Waist: 32 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">-1.5<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Hips: 36 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Hips: 35.5 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">-.5<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Thighs: 20 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Thighs: 18 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">-2<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Biceps: 11.5 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Biceps: 11 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">-.5<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I&#8217;m not\u00a0disatisfied\u00a0with the results this morning. This is my official November Weigh In. Even though the scale didn&#8217;t show a smaller number I see a change in the measurements. I noticed clothes being looser, skin being toner, muscles in my arms.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I need to work on changing my Goal Weight Mentality. <a href=\"http:\/\/carbzilla.britehive.com\/\">Carbzilla <\/a>mentioned that instead of a &#8220;Goal Weight&#8221; she has a range. I like that idea. A healthy range of acceptable weight. Fluctuation within the range is okay. It&#8217;s not the end of the world.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The key to weight loss maintance is:\u00a0<strong>Don\u2019t stop doing the things that helped you take the weight off in the first place. <\/strong>My intention was to never STOP what I was doing (healthy eating, exercise) once I reached goal weight. It&#8217;s not like I lost 100 pounds and then started eating a whole pizza by myself. <\/span><\/span><\/span>I changed my lifestyle; I changed my whole life. This plan is here to stay.<\/p>\n<p>The trick NOW is to figure out what\u00a0maintenance\u00a0mode will be. This is definitely uncharted territory. But like Carbzilla said, a healthy range is optimal. It&#8217;s about maintaining within that range, being less focused on the number, and striving to accomplish OTHER goals (besides weight loss).<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>QUESTION: Is your Goal Weight elusive?
