It’s been quite awhile since I checked back in on your blog – Love the new blog/website and super impressed/amazed with your annual Christmas photos.

I’m interested to know how you feel when you look back on pictures of yourself at 250pounds?

Personally I really struggle with looking at the significantly bloated version of myself, almost to the point of really disliking/hating that guy and everything he represents (mainly a complete lack of respect for my body and personal health).

I know this kind of thing is good motivational fuel but at the same time I’m somewhat embarrassed for people to see those pics and I know I’ll regret it even more in the future when I have kids (if I am so blessed that is) as they’ll really wonder what their dad was doing to himself.

When I first started my blog in February I had to drag out old “Fat” photos and it was really hard for me. I had tried to bury the past and forget the old me. It was embarrassing to see the old pictures and it took every bit of courage I could muster to show the world. I’m glad I did. I eventually got over it and now I see the old photos on my blog every day so I’ve become desensitized to it. It doesn’t seem like me anymore…if that makes sense. 🙂

Those are amazing pictures! I am always fascinated at how people’s faces look after losing weight. They have so much more personality, I think. Or maybe that is just my weird thinking.

When I look at old photos, I always have a mix of pride, shame, and embarrassment depending on the photo.

No I think you are right, Lori. I see pictures of me now and I looked 100% happier than before…which is weird because a lot of my “fat” photos have me smiling too. Just a different smile.

Its great that you even have these pictures to reflect on. I avoided the camera at all costs.

So did it–which is why my “fat” photos are often re-posted on my website. I only have a handful of them to share.

When looking at my photos of last December, I can clearly see a difference and it made me sad to see that I was that big. And to top it off, I did not think I was that big …

I never thought I was either. It’s strange how your brain tricks you!
