Yay new mattress! We need a new one too but no money right now. Maybe after we get our debt paid off. 🙂

The Yelp comment made me curious and I found this. Yelp Pay for Play.

I do use Yelp, but mostly I read reviews written by my friends or reviews I have followed over time. We are rarely far away from home really so not a lot of need to check reviews on places not frequented by friends.

I’ve gotten pretty good at reading reviews and recognizing whether or not that reviewer has any intelligence…you can tell if they are just complaining to complain!

Wow, that was a short mattress story!!! I like to consider myself low maintenance and it killed me that I went through FIVE mattresses before getting the one I have now.

I’ve been meaning to write up the saga on my blog, but the nutshell is: first one was too soft but had no return policy; sold it to a friend (who loves it dearly). Second one was too soft, returned it for the third which I also didn’t like but kept for my guest bed. Fourth one was also uncomfortable and traded it for my current FIFTH mattress – which is good but not awesome. Ugh, the whole thing wound up being way more stressful than I expected! But don’t feel bad if this one doesn’t work out – you’ve got a LONG way to go to hit my princess status 🙂

Haha! That’s your new name, Princess. But seriously, a good mattress makes a huge difference. If you aren’t sleeping well, you aren’t resting or healing your body and if you work out a lot you aren’t getting that recovery…I wish we hadn’t waited so long to throw in the towel and admit we needed a new one.

I love your blog and stories. We just got a new mattress too and bought something totally different than I thoughht we would. I love the bed now but I do not use the new fancy pillow they threw in. It gives me neck pain. I am always looking for the perfect pillow and am on my sixth one.

Don’t you feel like Goldilocks & the three bears? That’s how I felt trying all the different mattresses and pillows…after awhile they all started to feel the same…

ha! I have three different pillow styles on my bed, and yet another couple in the closet. It’s a good thing I sleep alone as there would be no room for a PERSON in there! I wake up often in the night and swap out the pillow of the moment.

I totally get that! I went through SO many pillows trying to find one that felt good, didn’t flatten and didn’t hurt my neck.

We sadly a few years ago down graded from a King to a Queen size bed and regretted it almost immediately – while we don’t mind snuggling, when I want to sleep I want my space. So when my daughter moved out, I brought her queen bed in – so now we have side by side queen beds and he can get up 100 times in the night and I would never know. It’s like a MegaBed!

Hope you guys enjoy the mattress after a while!

My family and I own a business that gets reviewed on Yelp frequently. We have never had any contact with Yelp, nor do we pay them a fee to publish reviews. You got fed a story.

We need to get a new mattress. Ours is 8 years old and sagging in the middle. It’s a pillow top and I don’t think I would get one of those again.

I never read yelp because half the reviews seem fake. It’s annoying.

    1. Lisa Eirene

Yeah a lot of them seem fake. Take it with a grain of salt…I have an old pillow top Englander mattress on my bed (it’s now in the guest room) and it’s at least 15 years old, maybe 20…it’s still fantastic!

We had a high-end mattress that sucked after the first few months. We just got a Tempurpedic. It took some getting used to, but it’s working out well.

Glad you found something that worked. We’ve had this new one for like almost 4 weeks now. So far so good!
