Lazy Sundays & tasty burgers, that sounds right up my alley.

I’ve also come across the “What is SHE doing here?!” thing since losing weight, especially in this most recent Healthiest You Challenge. Some of the other participants look almost annoyed that I’m there, but it’s a daily challenge to maintain or continue the efforts, despite having made some progress in the past.

It’s a weird, uncomfortable feeling, isn’t it? I’ve experienced it a few times and I didn’t know how to handle those situations. One time at work some coworkers wanted to do a Biggest Loser challenge and I decided it wouldn’t be beneficial for me to join….I thought it would just be weird.

I used to shop at Torrid back in the day, but it was when I was super skinny. I know that sounds weird, but trust me. When I was a size 12, I was cursed with tiny boobs, so my waist fit their lowest size, my hips fit the next size up, but I could never really wear the tops because I couldn’t fill them out LOL.

Anyway, since they’ve changed Torrid/HT so much over the years, you might look on Hot Topic’s website and see if what you thought was cute at Torrid is being sold in your size at Hot Topic. I used to do that when I wore those zipper pants and couldn’t find my size at HT, I’d find them at Torrid instead. Maybe it’s the same going the other way?

    Also, me + pate = 🙁

Shopping for clothing is never easy. I totally understand why you’d shop at Torrid if you have fuller hips, smart thinking! I think they also carry a size 10 and 12 there. While I may be at a consistent size (for the most part) now, I do still have to try things on and it’s different at every store. Some stores I fit in the junior section, sometimes I’m a larger size than normal. It’s never consistent…

Great idea on looking for the same thing at Hot Topic. I will check that out.

There is a store in this area that has their sizes that way – Chicco’s. The smallest size is a 0 and I think it is a 2-4, then 1, 2, and 3. 3 is a 14 and sometimes 16. It was fun fitting into a 3, since I don’t think I ever was a size 3.
I prefer the creamy pate. Too bad you got chunky on your first try.

Did it make you feel better seeing a size 3 instead of like a 16 or whatever? Thinking back to that time, I think I would have felt better having that special sizing, too. It really is smart on Torrid’s part.

I am willing to try pate again. But only if it’s creamy!

Its funny you mention Torrid’s sizing. I love them, well, sometimes, though I only shop clearance because they are so expensive! Some of my goals relate to their sizing- I made it to fit a Torrid size 2, and a size 1, now I’m shooting for a size 0. The last Torrid related one is to not fit Torrid at all! I can;t wait for that day!

    1. Lisa Eirene

Yes! I noticed it was pretty pricey there. The clearance prices were a little steep, too.

I think your size goal is fantastic. That’s definitely a goal you can work towards.

50% off clearance sales. 😉 I’m cheap, poor, and since I like what I like and not always what’s actually in right now, it works out great for me! A few years ago I got some semi-formal dresses for between $5 and $12 each.

        1. Lisa Eirene

That’s a great deal. I always shop clearance racks. I don’t care what’s necessarily in style–more about does it fit me and look okay?

looks like a fun restaurant to try!

I haven’t lost all my weight (yet!) but I have lost 8kg, which is nearly 20 pounds, this year. I still pick up the wrong sized clothes too, or the styles that I needed to wear at my highest weight (with lots of flow, to cover wobbles).

I actually have no idea how to dress my body now, because I have spent so long wearing long, flowing tops over jeans (because my thighs rubbed together in a skirt). I need Gok Wan and I need him right now!

In other news, you eat the most amazing food and if I am ever in Portland I’ll need a Lisa to eat list (and a bigger pair of pants).

Isn’t it funny how our perceptions are different? Sometimes looking in the mirror I think I’m a different size than what I really am.

And like you, Jess, I have no idea how to dress myself either. I’m slowly learning. But I also wore a lot of big, baggy clothes to hide the weight. It’s strange wearing more fitted clothing but I’m getting used to it.

If you ever come to Portland, let me know! I have lots of tips. 🙂

I was JUST saying to my friend the other day how I missed shopping at Torrid. I pretty much need a whole new wardrobe right now and have been overwhelmed my shopping. When I was heavier, Torrid was pretty much the greatest place on earth. It was almost easier having one “go to” store for clothes…I have no idea where to shop now!

    1. Lisa Eirene

It’s definitely harder! With each store I go to, I figure out pretty quickly how their “vanity sizing” works. I know which stores run small and which run big. And I admit that I am totally vain and will go to the store where I am a size 4 in jeans instead of a size 6.

We have a store here that has sizing like that. Chico’s. I think it is 0-4. It is brilliant marketing as I loved being able to say I had a size 1 or 0 of something. It is amazing how we can be brainwashed!!!

Your burger looks amazing! I am still drooling.

    1. Lisa Eirene

Brainwashing is a good word. Creative marketing is also good. It’s all about how it’s branded I guess.
