I hear you. I feel so much better not tracking calories. I still wear my heart rate strap during peloton workouts so I can not increase the pace when my heart rate is high enough. But I’m trying to shift my mind set to moving my body because I love my body and exercising feels good. And it does feel good! But the mental shift from having to make up for calories in is hard.

I love your comment! It is such a good goal and one I am trying to work my way to. And I agree, the HRM is good for staying in a specific zone during your workout.

Wow – it truly is a huge mind-shift, isn’t it? I was just on a vacation and I do fine making reasonable food choices (yes, an ice cream cone is okay – one every day for 5 days, maybe not such a good idea) and exercising when/if I can squeeze it in, but as soon as I’m back home, I’m back on the tracking train. I can envision giving up the calorie counting, but the Garmin…well…that would be tough! Food for thought, pardon the pun!

I think it takes baby steps. So lately I’ve been still using my Garmin, but I am not checking the calorie count afterwards. A few times I even forgot! So it’s starting to work for me…

I’m catching up and reading the posts I’ve missed.
Wow, this spoke to me. If I don’t wear my step tracking watch when I go on a walk have I really even walked?? I’m working through this too.

Isn’t it a hard mental thing to give up!!?? I am still working on it but I am getting better. I wear my watch for walks and such and use it but I often forget to check how many calories I burned afterwards.
