You can read what you want and review it sure I like your mysteries best but its always interesting to see what you’ve been reading no matter the genre.
My latest reads last month were Sunburn, The Family Next Door, Girl Unknown, Cold Day In Hell, The Immortalist, The Kremlin Conspiracy, Duel To The Death, I’ll Be Your Blue Skye

The Immortalist is on my list!

I don’t read many books, I wish I made more time in my schedule for reading….. I really enjoy the types of books you select. I have read a lot of books based on your recommendations. I usually just add them to my amazon wish list while I read your posts. Thank you for helping me find some wonderful books.

That’s awesome! Glad to hear that. πŸ™‚

I really enjoy all your book reviews no matter which genre you choose. I think you strike an excellent balance by giving enough details without spoiling the book- which is not always easy to do. Thanks for all your posts!

You’re welcome! Glad you like it. I definitely try not to give too much away (sometimes it’s hard). I hate reading reviews on Goodreads or Amazon that either give away the entire plot or spoil things.

I don’t really read thrillers (I just get too paranoid!!), so I always like it when you throw in the fluffy stuff!

I’m in 2 book groups so I’m usually reading whatever we are doing that month, and lately I’ve been reading about racism like Waking up White and A Peculiar Paradise (Oregon-specific history), and I’m going to Charleston soon so I’ve read two books based there (Invention of Wings and South of Broad). I usually add your recommendations to a list but it is a VERY LONG LIST

Those sound really interesting! I just added Waking Up White and A Peculiar Paradise to my list.

Lisa – Logan is getting so big! I tend to gravitate toward World War II/Holocaust era books and I also really like books that have an immigrant in America kind of theme. I am not a thriller reader and not really a romance reader either. I read much, much less since I went back to work full time. I used to try and set a Goodreads goal of 25 books a year – I think last year I read 4 or 5. One of my new year’s resolutions this year was to read more. I just finished my first book of the year! I did start another one. Some of my favorite authors are: Pam Jenoff, Jenna Blum, Thrity Umrigar, Alyson Richman, Alice Hoffman. I tend to stick with an author and try to read all of their books.

πŸ™‚ He is! He’s a little boy now. It’s crazy!
If I find an author I like, I try and catch up on all their books, too.

Like you, I enjoy mystery/thrillers but mix it up with lighter stuff.
I really like that you read some of those “cranky male detective with issues” series. I like your book reviews, you do a great job and I have added tons to my TBR pile from your blog/good reads.

      Thanks Christi! πŸ™‚

I am a fairly eclectic reader, if you haven’t noticed πŸ™‚ I do enjoy the mystery/thriller genre and have picked up several authors on your recommendation – thank you! I like some fluff every once in a while, to cleanse the reading palate, so to speak. Jennifer Weiner, Fannie Flagg, that kind of thing. I enjoy biographies, mostly of people overcoming problems such as addiction or abuse, for some silly reason. I love Stephen King and have read almost all of his books. I do also really enjoy science fiction and fantasy. Historical fiction can be good, but I can only do a few of those a year. So, yeah, pretty much all of the above have shown up in your book review pages, so I say don’t change a thing!

Great! Sounds like we are pretty similar πŸ™‚

I read pretty broadly–a few mysteries (rarely thrillers), science fiction, fantasy, titles that have received a lot of awards (National Book Award or British writing awards), some non-fiction (especially if it has a science or social history bent). But because I like reading so much, I am perfectly happy to read reviews of books I have no intention of ever reading.

I am slowly discovering more blogs that are book review sites and I’ve gotten some good recommendations from there. It’s nice to see what other people are reading, even if it’s not something I might be drawn to.

I read all kinds of stuff, but tend to steer from modern fluff reading like 50 shades. I hate that stuff LOL. I’ve been heavy into period fiction, particularly WW2 era and turn of the century. I just started reading The Alienist – of course after finishing the TV show LOL!

    1. Lisa Eirene

Oh yeah I agree! I hate those types of books. I read the Twilight book and was baffled as to why it was so popular. LOL
I tried to read the Alienest a long time ago and couldn’t get into it but now I want to try again because the TV show was pretty good!
