Oy! I felt the pain along right with you there! So glad you didn’t need stitches though. Hope your weekend picks up from here.

Oh my! Not a fun way to spend the evening. Hope your thumb is doing better today.

Yep, I have fainted – several times. I have relatively severe hypoglycemia. Unfortunately, sometimes I don’t do what I am supposed to do and the hypoglycemia gets the best of me.

Geez that is SCARY!!! That is one dangerous looking knife… I am lucky to never have fainted before!

  4. Becky

Oh wow! That is a very scary looking knife! I’m glad you still have a thumb after looking at that thing!

I’ve only fainted once, but it was less dramatic. Apparently the medicine they give you to knock you out for wisdom teeth surgery is known to cause some fainting side effects. I took the bloody gauze out of my mouth when I got home and put clean gauze in, and promptly fainted. I woke up on my bathroom floor VERY confused. Funny stuff now that I look back!

I HOPE YOU ARE FEELING BETTER SOON ! <3

I "blacked out" into shock once after my ski accident… my knee was cut wide open, and as soon as I saw it… I was out.

i used to work with my brother and he fainted while we were working together! scared me so bad! (and he pulled the cash register drawer with him!) thankfully, it was right by the hospital, and he ended up being fine, but it was scary.
i’ve passed out from blood sugar issues before, but not badly (more like, my legs give way, not blacking out…)
    glad you’re ok!

Yikes! This is why I’m scared of getting actual, properly sharpened knives in my kitchen. Hope it heals quickly!

The last time I fainted I was at work – I hit my knee *just so* on my desk and the pain came in waves, plus the office was all stuffy and I couldn’t breathe…and then I woke up face-planted on the floor with a fat lip and carpet burn on my face. I was just glad no one else was around to witness it – embarassing!!!

  8. Lori (Finding Radiance)

Owie, owie! I can’t believe that didn’t need stitches. It is a basal reaction, likely from the adrenaline spike and fall from cutting yourself.

I have come very close to fainting just a couple times, and both were from pain. Enough that I had to lower my head really fast to prevent falling over.

Hope all is well now. Get some pampering – you need to cash that in while you have it.

And I loved that you took a picture in the office of the stuff. That’s when you know you’re a blogger…

That’s one scary situation! Hope your thumb heals quickly.

    Does black out drunk count?

I’m not weird at the sight of blood really, but once when a nurse was drawing blood from me, she screwed up and it squirt out of my arm and onto her uniform. That made me dizzy, and I had to lie down and they tilted the bed back to get the blood back to my head. It happened when I donated blood, too. I can’t donate blood ever again.

When my 3 year old got a massively bloody nose, I got dizzy and that blackness you mentioned came around. It just wouldn’t stop pouring out of his nose!

I’m getting a little fuzzy just thinking about it. I’m glad you’re okay, though.

    1. Jennifer is Always Sick

Okay. I totally jinxed myself. Our 3 year old just got another bloody nose, and it was a gusher. lol

      1. Lisa Eirene

I used to get nosebleeds as a kid too. Never fainted then either! LOL

        1. Jennifer is Always Sick

It’s weird how we change as we grow older. Excessive amounts of blood just bother me now. I didn’t get fuzzy this time, though. I think I’ve gotten used to it and just concentrated on helping the poor kid.

I will say this, though – the photo of that knife is enough to make me dizzy. That thing looks deadly!

I sliced into my left index finger, right on the knuckle a few months ago. It went deep and to this day, I still have the V where the knife skipped and jammed into my finger. I too, got woozy and a little faint-y. Extremity injuries are no joke.
I’ve only fainted once, and it was from heat stroke. That too, is no joke.

  12. Maya (Maya's Place)

Ouch, that must have hurt. I’ve never fainted. I usually feel it coming and try to lie down and put my feet up.
I love your new photographer’s pictures! Gorgeous!

Thank you! He did a great job. The photos are great.

Sorry to hear you cut yourself. Hope it’s feeling better today. 🙁

Kitchen accidents happen when you least expect them. I had a glass shatter while washing it and cut into my index finger pretty deep. Had to get a few stitches. Since then, I NEVER put my hands inside a glass when washing it. I use a dish scrubber with a long handle.

    1. Lisa Eirene

Good to know! I haven’t had that happen (yet)…knock on wood.

  14. Amy

Owwww!!! I empathize. I sliced half my fingernail off last year with a sharp knife and was the same. I’ve never fainted before (and I didn’t then, but boy was I close! Even after the other half told me it wasn’t quite as bad as I’d been expecting I was still really off and iffy about it).

Hope the finger is feeling better soon!

  15. Merinda

Glad your doing better. I’ve fainted twice. once when I was a teenager and sick and hadn’t really eaten in a couple days. I found myself sitting on the closed toilet with no idea how I got there.

The other time I’d just given blood, and like an idiot hadn’t eaten enough ahead of time. I stopped at a BK on the way home for a burger and felt the darknesss threatening. I got my food ordered, stepped to the drink fountain…and found myself sitting on the floor.

What pissed me off was nobody in the restaurant even asked if I was okay!

    1. Lisa Eirene

Wow! That’s awful! How do people not ask???

  16. Sara

OMG! I’m so glad you’re ok! I have never fainted but have come close basically from heat stroke after horseback riding. EEP! It sounds so scary! 🙁 But definitely glad it was not too serious of an injury! I’m also prone to cutting myself with knives and don’t allow many sharp objects into my house because of it. :/ But accidents happen. Hope you recover quickly!! You need that thumb for your awesome weight workouts 😀

Good night what a knife! I’m glad you’re better but you gotta be more careful with sharp objects:)

Wow! I am just reading about this. Glad to hear that you are ok now. I have never fainted, but can only imagine how frightening it must be.
