    I’ve run injured too. Big mistake. I was stubborn and thought I could “run through it.” 🙁

      I think most runners are “stubborn.” They have to be in order to run otherwise they’d never finish a race! But there’s a line between ignoring real pain and being stubborn. I’ve been there too.

      I hear you! I ran with a pulled patella tendon and torn cartilidge. I thought it was normal and the real runners were tough so I should be too. BIG mistake. 8 months later I am running again, slowly and starting all over again!

    Thanks so much for this post! I want to run a half, but it’s pretty intimidating. Plus, I think I might actually gain weight doing it – for reasons exactly like your cheeseburger example! This definitely gives me more food for thought.

    wow! Even if you didn’t follow all the rules, way to go for finishing! I don’t think I have that amount of dedication. I so admire people who do this! Have you fully recovered yet?

      I am fully recovered and feeling great! I have another half marathon tomorrow and it is going to be so much better than my first! I can’t wait!

    Hi Becky,
    I think you did a wonderful job to get through all of that and finish!
    I just recently completed my first half marathon as well and I neglected all of the things you mentioned above as well 🙂 But it’s all a learning curve, right!
    Now I’m concentrating on a more balanced schedule and I think my body will thank my for it 🙂
