One of my kids did that exact thing with anesthesia when she was his age.

It never happened to her again.

When it happened, they actually put her back under, very lightly/quickly and she napped in recovery for about an hour. When she woke up the second time, she was fine.

For years when she had anything done, we would warn them she had a reaction, but it never happened again. So I do think it was age related.

One thing we do now is request IV fluids. Both girls (who are now 25 and 21). So wisdom teeth, colonoscopies, anything at all where they are put out, we requests bag of fluids. And that helps hugely (wisdom teeth is good example). Sometimes we request two bags if it was more involved.

And if you suspect he is going to have speech issues, in our area, for his age, they will do preventive therapy. Or at least they used to. Now 21 year old had orthodontia work done at age 3-4. She had headgear. She went to speech the whole time to prevent a lisp.

So sorry you had house drama. That is scary when you are juggling two. We have built twice. And when we built the second time, we waited until we were nearly ready to move, to list the old house. It sold quickly and painlessly, but we fully realized it could have been double ugly.

I’ve talked to other moms and their kids had the same issues. Anesthesia is just weird. Some kids have a reaction to the calming meds they give them before surgery. Thankfully Logan didn’t have any of that (just gas).

Thankfully we have no speech concerns. Logan is a champ. LOL He never stops talking LOL!!

I can definitely say it’s been a summer of stress. I will be glad when it’s all in the past.

My oldest did ear tubes multiple times, and, while he didn’t have an adverse reaction coming out of anesthesia, thankfully, it was still VERY stressful on this mama! Hopefully it will fix everything and Logan outgrow the problem like my son did. His dad, my ex, had lots of ear issues that went untreated because there really wasn’t much they could do for it back then. He had pretty major hearing loss due to scarring over the years, so it really was a no-brainer call to do the tubes. And grandson #2, got tubes put in last year, so it seems to be the gift that keeps on giving 🙁

Crossing fingers the 2nd buyer isn’t a flake for you!

It seems to be a very common procedure! My brother and I didn’t have that issue. Either did Michael as a kid. So who knows!
      Thanks! I hope so too.
