Moving Day!

After what feels like MONTHS of anticipation, the day was upon us. Logan has been super excited about the new house. He asks every day when we get to move to the new house. He even helped me pack over the weekend.

Tuesday we signed the papers. It was starting to feel real finally!!! (It was a little hard to relax, though, because there have been a lot of bumps in the road along the way, so it’s been stressful.) Our closing date changed twice. We had to hire a second moving company because our moving date changed and people were booked up. Like I said, a lot of bumps in the road. But the good thing about moving the middle of the week? Logan was in daycare so we didn’t have to try and find childcare.

This is our new house!

It’s a 1920’s Bungalow. I was telling one of our neighbors at our current place about it and she said that they built those houses here for the workers who worked on the river. I think that’s a cool bit of history.

Anyways, I will share more photos once we are moved in and settled a bit. But here are a few:

Wednesday morning Logan went to daycare and I took the animals over to the house. The cats were in the bathroom safe and sound most of the day and Bella was in her crate while the movers moved stuff over. Some friends brought us lunch from New Seasons and that was a LIFESAVER! They brought two salads and sandwiches for Michael and me. It was the best sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. I was starving and I ate it in about two bites. You’d think I’d been running through the desert for a year I was so hungry and thirsty.

Once the movers were done for the day I let everyone out to explore. Stevie and Bella were having a BLAST running around checking everything out.

Maya not so much. She didn’t like it one bit!

We used Bold Move PDX Moving. They are a fairly new company, local. I love being able to support a small business and I highly recommend them! They did a GREAT job! They were on time, they were respectful of us and our stuff. They didn’t charge for lunches and breaks and stuff.

We all kinda underestimated how much stuff we had and how long it would take and they had a second job Wednesday afternoon so they moved about 85% of the stuff and then came back Thursday to do the rest. Which actually worked out better for us. It would have been a really really long day to do it in one shot. So Thursday they moved the shed/garden/tools/garage stuff and the grill. Miscellaneous stuff like that.

Logan loves the new house! I got him a teddy bear for the new house. 🙂

I walked 28K steps Wednesday and 24K steps on Thursday. I looked it up and that’s the equivalent of 13 miles. I was SO tired and sore and just beat!

We got a lot unpacked and stuff set up but it will take awhile to get everything done. Some of it will be on hold for a bit while we finish up our house and put it on the market next week!

Fun Friday

I had Friday off for a Mother’s Day event at daycare. I dropped Logan off at school, hit the gym, took care of some chores and then went to daycare for lunch. There were other moms there, too, and we all had lunch with the kids. Taco salad, cornbread and watermelon. Then strawberry cake for dessert. 🙂

All the kids were confused when they saw mommies! They all thought it was time to go home. Poor bubs. They were confused. But it was fun to see some of the stuff they do. They read books and sang songs. It was fun.

Then it was nap time for the kiddos (who were not happy that they weren’t leaving with the mommies) and I went car shopping.

I had a 2007 Ford Focus Hatchback. I bought it 10 years ago. It was my first REAL nice car. It was less than a year old when I bought it, had like 10k miles on it, maybe…it had a warranty…all those grownup things you count on. 😉

It was such a great car. Super fuel efficient and perfect for me. Then we had a baby. Yeah…when he was little and we used the car seat that snaps into the base, it wasn’t too bad. But I definitely did NOT have room for much else in the car. But the bad news is that my car was starting to have some issues with it and it was just too damn small.

I was SO SICK of banging my head EVERY time I got Logan in and out of the car seat. It sucked. It was time to move on.

I had planned on buying a newer car earlier in the year but then Michael got laid off and was looking for work…plans had to be put on hold. Finally, I felt like I could try and look for real. I’ve been researching and test driving for about a month. I narrowed it down to a Ford Escape. I loved my Ford Focus. It was a great car that barely had anything go wrong with it and when it did, it was affordable to fix.

Now it was down to finding the RIGHT Ford Escape.

I went to three dealerships on Friday. The first was Ford, where I used to take my car for service. I had a specific car I wanted to look at but didn’t like it when I got there. I tested a few others, even a hybrid, and then left. Feeling a little discouraged. Went to one other place and had a negative experience with the salesguy then ended up at CarMax. I ended up finding MY CAR. 😀

IT is SO NICE. It’s a 2017 Ford Escape. Very low miles. Great condition. The experience I had at CarMax was absolutely excellent. I would recommend it 100%. I am SO happy with the car!!! It will be great for our little family.

Got home and we tried the Trader Joe’s cauliflower crust pizza for dinner. It was NOT good. The Whole Foods crust was much better.

Also on Friday, Logan decided he was ready to try his bike! HE LOVED it. He was obsessed. So obsessed he didn’t want to go to bed. And when he woke up Saturday, I could hear him in his room talking about his bike, 😉

Now I want to go on a road trip in my new car!
