bananas are good for charley horse relief because of the potassium – a common reason for muscle cramps is low potassium, magnesium and especially women – calcium. no stretching enough or over working and dehydration (well, not hydrating enough!) are also common reasons. possibly the squats beforehand, unless that is normal?

they are a pain, I know that. BAA HAA. I didn’t realize the irony until I typed it. 😀

    Happy Wednesday!

I probably did not drink enough water yesterday. I am really bad about drinking water.

SOmetimes if I am a week out from starting my monthly fun time, I get bad cramps in my legs. I think it’s a lack of calcium. I have been told to make sure I supplement those weeks. Water is also a culprit for me though, so I bet it’s a combo. Good luck! Good for you for not quitting! Where do you get your Nike workouts? Is that an iPhone thing?

    1. Lisa Eirene

      Interesting…I didn’t consider low calcium.

The Nike workout is a FREE app! It’s for the iPhone and it’s really great. I’m surprised it’s free.

I’m not sure what was with your legs but I wanted to say something about the reverse crunches…if you REALLY want to feel them, instead of rolling back think about lifting your legs straight UP, not back. now THAT is a reverse crunch 😉

Hope Charlie doesn’t mess with you again! 🙁

Thanks! I will give that reverse crunch move another try. I hope I don’t get a Charlie Horse again. Ugh!

There are so many causes for cramping. You could try a banana or coconut water – both high in potassium. It could have been muscle fatigue. It is hard to do cardio after strength training, even it if is just body weight training.

I guess what’s weird is that this what I normally do when I workout at home: I warm up doing the Nike app, then get on the bike trainer. So it’s weird that it happened!

Ugh that SUCKS. I don’t know what to tell you about why it happened but cramps are the worst! Lots of water and bananas!!
