Oh boy–I used to buy tons of the frozen “lean cuisine” type meals, and I totally stay away from them now. Looking at the ingredient list is enough to remind me why. But also, they were never satisfying (and I’d just end up snacking on whatever else I could find), they are expensive, and frankly, they don’t even taste good. So glad I gave them up!

YES!!!! When I was trying to lose 100 pounds I ate a ton of lean cuisine types. I liked some of them but the ingredients list was frightening. I rarely buy them now, once in awhile in a pinch I will eat one for lunch at work but I try not to.

I avoid the bakery, but I just need to avoid the entire store as I tend to over buy everything. Then I end up tossing it before it can be eaten:(

I get that. We were having that issue for awhile, too. Things were going bad too quickly. What a waste. I just buy less stuff now. Means more grocery store trips, but it works for me.

I would never buy “bad things” at the grocery store, but I definitely got a LOT of fast food. I don’t think I’m strong enough to think of all of it yet!

Sometimes it’s hard to do both at the same time. Focus on one thing, master it, and then try to avoid the fast food!

You are so good! I try not to buy that stuff either but sometimes I cave.

I’m not always good! I definitely give in to temptation once in awhile!

I avoid the cookie aisle 100% of the time. I love sweet treats, but I try to limit myself to the ones that I bake at home.

It must be so exciting to have conquered ice cream! What a wonderful freedom to keep something in the house, but not need to eat it all at once 🙂

    1. Lisa Eirene

I do the same thing. I don’t even go down the cookie isle anymore. If I have cookies there are baked at home.

I have found that I still can’t buy ice cream. I got a small tub (900ml) a few weeks ago. Good thing I got the small, since it was gone in 2 days! Off the list for a while longer, me thinks!

Here in NZ there are candy free checkouts. They have gum, cheese and cracker packs, single serves of nuts, etc. I don’t seek them out, since the chocolate doesn’t tempt me, but they do serve their purpose for some people.

    1. Lisa Eirene

That’s cool about the candy-free checkout lines. I like that!

I was the same way about ice cream. I had to stop buying it while I was losing weight, and then later I took another break after maintaining my weight for awhile. I just didn’t want it in the house. Now, I buy it sporadically and it’s usually gone a little sooner than it should be, but I try not to do that too often.

Cookies and chips are products I don’t buy anymore at the grocery store. I have a huge sweet tooth, and I couldn’t eat just one or two cookies. And in my college days, I could eat an entire LARGE bag of chips myself, in one sitting in front of my favorite TV show. Not a good thing! I try to keep treats as treats when possible, and not a meal…haha. 🙂

    1. Lisa Eirene

Yes, treats should be small treats and not meals. That’s sometimes hard to do…….easy to say! 😉

I avoid the same things as you do except the ice cream, but I do buy it only once a month as a rule. I bake everything from scratch and I do buy chips for a party or special occasion. I prefer not to have any temptations in a house for me and my boys:)

    1. Lisa Eirene

I think once a month is totally reasonable!

  9. Sarah

I totally avoid the ice cream isle! I’ve found I would much rather spend the extra money to go out for ice cream every few weeks than buy it and eat it all in one week.

    1. Lisa Eirene

Good call. I agree. I’d rather treat myself once in awhile to the frozen yogurt near my place.

I can’t keep ice cream in the house anymore… But if I do want to splurge on the stuff, I’ll get it while I’m out and get the real thing, so it’s satisfying…

    1. Lisa Eirene

Agreed! A small amount of the good stuff is much better than a lot of the crappy stuff (at least for me).
