Last night was our first Team Meeting for Hood to Coast. It was a potluck dinner. I brought my veggie pasta salad (I just posted the recipe for it). There was grilled chicken, salad, and sweet watermelon.
It was great meeting everyone! I’d only met our captain, Leslie, because we work together. 🙂 Everyone was really nice and I think it’s going to be a fun adventure!
I feel lucky to be on such an experienced team! Most of them have done Hood to Coast at least a few times…

That is the estimated run time for our team. Leslie kindly did all the math to figure it out. Looking at my slots (in the red) I’m a little nervous about my time!
My first Leg is 6.4 miles and Leslie estimates I will complete it in 59 minutes. The long run I did this weekend (7 miles) was completed in 1:18…so perhaps 59 minutes is pretty accurate. I also have to take into account:
- Excitement of RACE day will make me faster.
- I will be fresh and that’s my first run of the trip.
- I’m on a team with experienced, GOOD runners and they will help me.
My teammates are pretty casual about the whole event. Part of me was nervous about letting down the team by not being a fast runner…but they assured me that wasn’t going to be the case. I was told it was a 200 mile party and running is sort of the “Afterthought.” 🙂
I got my official t-shirt for Hood to Coast! It looks cute!
We have another team meeting planned for the night before the race. We’re all going to carb-load together at the Spaghetti Factory. 🙂
QUESTION: Do you collect race T-shirts? How many do you have?
Beth @ Beth's Journey to Thin
I love my race t-shirts! I have about 8 to 10, one for each race I’ve run. The two dry wick shirts I’ve gotten are my favorites.
Wow, that looks intense and goes through the night! I can’t wait to hear about it all – Awesome!
Lisa, You will do great on HTC! And don’t worry at all about being a super speed-demon. We are a fun team who is not worried about time, rather we are just happy that we make it there at all!
We are so happy to have you on the team this year!
Thanks Leslie!! 🙂
That relay sounds like so much fun!! The t-shirt is pretty nice too, sometimes you can end up with real ugly ones 😛 I’ve only done a handful of races, but my favourite by far is the long sleeve tech shirt I got for the triathlon. Plus, I feel badass wearing it. 😉
You are so right! I feel like a badass when I wear race t-shirts!
