My wife is the Thanksgiving hostess for our family. It’s her turn this year. So I am the staging crew. I prep the day before by vacuuming the steps, cleaning my office and making it presentable. I get to open up the tables, install the leafs, put tables back together, add extra chairs, and other chores as assigned. Afterwards, I do the table breakdown and extra chairs put away routine. Oh…I guess I’ll eat a little of this and little of that too. Happy Thanksgiving!

Nice work, Marc! I bet it reduces a lot of your wife’s stress by doing all that stuff. How many people are you guys hosting this year? A few years ago Michael and I hosted our very first Thanksgiving and invited friends over that had no where to go. I think there were about 8 or 9 of us. That was fun but a lot of work!

Well Lisa, since you asked…we are having a smaller group this year. Only 15 adults (that includes 4 teenage young men) and also 4 young girls ages 10 to 4. So 19 all together. We have hosted as many as 35 before for Thanksgiving. We have the room and I have accumulated extra chairs and folding tables over the years, enough to host a small banquet. We had a funeral reception at our home in the backyard in July in 2007 and I had tables and chairs for 75 people without renting. Maybe I should rent them out to make back my investment:)

Wow! 35 is a huge number! My grandparents used to host thanksgiving for all of us too and it was about 40 or so people. I remember it being complete chaos in the house. But happy memories. 🙂

          Good luck with your shindig!

Thank you, Roz. I hope I get over this soon. It’s been a bummer way to spend the weekend!

It’s very rare that our plans get changed so, obviously, it was meant to be. Sorry you’re so sick. Please tell Michael that we’d always be happy to see him when he’s up this way.

It was probably a good thing! You don’t need to get this!
