When I’m seriously training for a meet my program naturally progresses me at about a 10% pace. So I don’t have to think about it. But this is off season a time of no formal programs except to build my endurance.

    I stink at the 10%!

If you stink at 10%, what do you find yourself doing? 40%? 50?

I could do a much better job of following this, especially when it comes to cardio work. As soon as I’m feeling good, I push myself too far. It’s so frustrating!!

I am the SAME way! If feels ok, I want to keep going. This current injury sucks because I often feel just fine while I’m working out but it’s the next day the pain starts.

When it comes to walking/biking I do but I have to do the 5 percent rule if I am in a running mode. (Which I’m not right now because of a knee injury.)

It can be hard to stick with 10 percent when our mind says, “More, more!”

I up my bike mileage more than 10% in the early season now, but it is a sport I am pretty conditioned in and don’t worry about it. Other stuff, yep – 10%.

Yep, I think you’re probably good with the cycling! 🙂

So interesting! I definitely follow the 10% rule for endurance training (running, swimming, etc), but I never thought to also follow it during weight training. Thanks for giving me something to think about!

I definitely do with weight lifting. I am so freaked about injuring myself!
