YES!!! I have 2 little ones and wasn’t a happy camper when I was preggo with them. So so so so sick. I actually had to get on medications for the first trimester for both kiddos.

Oh no! I’m sorry Ana. That sounds so horrible. I hope the medications helped alleviate some of the sickness. 🙁

Like you I did not like the 1st tri. I puked all the time at work and that made it hard to keep it a secret. 2nd tri was so much better! You will love it!

So far the 2nd trimester is pretty great! I’m much more comfortable, feel like myself…it’s all good! 🙂

  3. Becka

I just found out I’m pregnant! 6 weeks right now. Love this update–it gives me an idea of what to expect. 🙂
I am so tired. All the time. I stopped going to the gym last week. Did you stop?

    1. Lisa Eirene

      Congrats Becka!!!!

I am still working out. Some days when I’m not really “feeling it” I take it easy and do something like the elliptical and I definitely don’t do the same distance/intensity I used to do. I found that I felt better after working out, even if I didn’t want to. Even on days I felt too tired to work out, I always felt energized afterward. But everyone is different. Listen to your body and if you aren’t feeling it, take a day off! It’s important to rest.

I hope I feel more energy soon so I can go bakc to the gym. I miss my pilates class.

        1. Lisa Eirene

All the pregnancy books/websites I read said that tiredness goes away (at least until the 3rd trimester! lol). Hope you can get back to your class. I have yet to try pilates…it sounds like it would be a good fitness class for pregnancy.

That’s funny, I feel like everyone talks about how much the first trimester sucks! For me it was just puking puking puking puking (I ended up taking Diclegis when I was throwing up around 20 times a day and that helped a lot) and anxiously counting the days and weeks since every week meant that statistically, the risk of miscarriage would get lower.

You look super cute with that bump!!

    1. Lisa Eirene

Oh no!!! I cannot imagine puking 20 times a day. You poor thing. 🙁 I hope it got better in the 2nd trimester. I was lucky I never puked. Just felt like I was going to 24/7. 🙁 And ginger candies, ginger ale, crackers…nothing really helped.

Yeah…I got mixed feedback. So many people told me how much they loved being pregnant but then I’d ask a few questions and they’d say …”oh yeah, actually I did not enjoy the first trimester.” It was nice to hear from other people they felt the same way because I thought it was just ME.

Oh and thanks for the compliment! 🙂

Thats what I took too. Lifesaver.

I did not enjoy being pregnant. Everyone always looked at me with shock when I said it. I just wanted to have the kid and be done with it as soon as possible. It’s not for everyone. And that’s okay too.

I craved milk my entire pregnancy. I drank at least a gallon a week. I’m not even kidding. And it had to be organic 1%. Anything other than that tasted terrible.

I’m thinking you should probably name your baby after the friend who gave you all the maternity clothes… 😉

    1. Lisa Eirene

Hahaha I will take that into consideration if we have a girl…. 😉 I mean, why not add it to the list? We can’t agree on a girl name to save our life.

To be honest, I’ve wanted kids my whole life, always knew I’d be a mom someday and REALLY wanted to have a baby. But I never really put much thought into the “pregnancy” part…just the “after” part…so it was kind of an adjustment when I got pregnant and suddenly my body was not my own, it was doing ALL KINDS of crazy, weird, uncomfortable things. Every day was a little different and uncomfortable. I’m just glad that part has stopped.

I remember you mentioning the milk. I’m also back to drinking milk (about a half gallon a week) but the OJ is crazy. Like super craving for it. I don’t get it.

I am glad you are sharing when it isn’t comfortable for you. I see too much on FB and instrgram and such of perfect pregnancies, perfect children, perfect homes and lives and it just isn’t true 100% of the time. Waaay too much pressure on people (young women especially) to be perfect.

Great news on the maternity leave, too!

    1. Lisa Eirene

Yeah the perfect perfect perfect doesn’t make people feel too good about things. Even if you try hard not to compare yourself to others, you end up feeling inadequate.

That’s awesome about paid maternity leave! I didn’t have that, and could only afford to take six weeks off unpaid. I was an accounts payable manager at the time for a property management company. I came back to work and saw someone at my desk so waited for the owner to come in to tell me what to do.

He came in and said that by law, he just had to give me “a” job, not the job I had, and wanted to know if I would empty all the washers and dryers of quarters and deposit them in the bank. WTF. I was a single Mom from the get go, and he said “I thought you were going to be a stay at home Mom anyway.” I looked at him and said “do you see a fucking ring on this finger?!” and quit.

It all worked out in the end, but happy that you don’t have to deal with that financial stress. 😀

    1. Lisa Eirene

Oh wow I’m shocked!! I mean, I guess I’m not because maternity leave and FMLA issues have never been an easy road for women but I’m shocked at how horrible your boss was. 🙁

  8. Beth

You can ask 100 different women and you’ll get 100 different pregnancy and birth stories! I loved being pregnant and luckily I wasn’t sick although I did have gestational diabetes. Although my water broke 7 weeks early and I was in the hospital on bed rest for a week and then my son was born at 34 weeks and was in the NICU for a week. So everyone has a different story!!

Glad you are feeling better — you look great!

    1. Lisa Eirene

Did your GD go away after the baby was born? What a scary situation about the bed rest!!! I’m glad it worked out and he is ok.

      1. Beth

Yes it went away! And he is now almost 14 and making me crazy 🙂

        1. Lisa Eirene

          Excellent! Glad to hear. 🙂
