The church where I work does a ropes course summer camp every summer. So I’m going to have to go and be the grown up. I am going to pee my pants.
But I’ll do it. Because as much as I freak the eff out over heights, I’m too stubborn to *not* do something.

You can’t show any fear! The kids will smell it!

It was terrifying. I’m sure if you do it enough times it’s not as scary but those first times are scary!

I love zip lines, I haven’t done them in years. The first time I felt like you, my heart was pounding outside my chest. The second time (probably a year later), I had less fear, but also less thrill. It was still fun, but not as exhilerating as the first time. I think the fear and the adrenaline certainly builds into the thrill.

My heart rate definitely slowed down a little bit on my second trip through the Zip Lines. I highly doubt I could EVER get used to doing the high ropes course though.

What an awesome thing to accomplish! It’s a great feeling, isn’t it? Though scary as hell! I did zip-lining for my birthday last year and I LOVED it! But the ropes were hard. I had to stop at one point because I let the ropes sections get the best of me. Somehow flying through the air was easier than walking on those ropes! Good job!!

That’s so cool you did it for your birthday. I totally understand what you mean about the ropes getting the best of you. I was okay through the first part, was freaked out by the tight rope sections, then I had a moment of “I can’t finish this” in the middle.

Hi Lisa, WOW…you are a brave soul!!! I’m not sure if I could do what you did!!!! I’m bowing at your height conquoring feet!!! 🙂 Have a great day.

I don’t know if I was brave, or stubborn. I told myself I’d regret not doing it, and I paid for it–I might as well get my money’s worth! It was scary!

AWESOME! I think you would have regretted not doing it too- so I am happy to hear you did it! I did a course like that once and was terrified. Conquering something that we think we can’t do is so empowering!

You are so right! I definitely felt empowered after doing it!

Hey Lisa! I look forward to your blog and read daily. Thank you for sharing as much as you do especially this post. I really want to go camping there with my family now. Unfortunately it’s September and I live in Vancouver, WA and doubt I’ll get it in before the weather turns to rain. I’m terribly afraid of heights, but I’d have to try the zip line and ropes course at least once. PLUS my boyfriend has wanted me to go paintballing for years and I would probably try that out as well.

Thank you for reading, Katie! As for the camp ground, you could rent the yurts in case of rain and they do the zip lines in the rain, although I don’t think that would be as fun. You should definitely go there! It was fun! I wanted to try paintballing too but Michael isn’t into that type of thing.

Thank you for writing! I even told my friend Lyssi about the blog and now she reads it :). I want to go and try everything. I’d never heard of such a place with such fun activities. Paintballing scares the heck out of me, but it’s something my boyfriend loves and like I said has always wanted me to try. I will make it to the campground sometime in the near future no doubt about it.

Let me know when you go what you think of the place!

I did a high ropes course as part of a leadership retreat about 5 years ago. We didn’t do everything you did, we just climbed up a 30-foot pole, and leapt off it to catch a trapeze. Of course, we were harnessed in and on the ground other members of our team were belaying the rope we were tethered to. If they screwed up… Well, that would’ve been bad, I re-read my post about it. Climbing up the pole was easy, but doing a 180 degree turn on such a tiny space was nerve wracking. Jumping off and catching the trapeze was exhilarating.

That sounds way more intense than what I did last weekend!!! Yikes!

Hi! I’m going on a high ropes course tomorrow with my sports team and am extremely nervous. I have been reading many articles this evening attributed with heights but your story made me feel less anxious. I hope I will be feeling the same way tomorrow. I have done an indoor high ropes course and had to turn back during that course but am confident that tomorrow I will be able to complete the course with a newfound confidence.

Good luck! I hope it goes ok for you.
