I’ve had red in the bedroom for years. To me, far more relaxing than sage green. But it just depends on one’s personal color palette.

Very true. I love the red but it’s not for me I think.

Have you registered at a Lowes or Home Depot yet? Tools and garden stuff might not be your typical wedding gifts, but oh so practical and great to have when you need them!

I looked into that. Neither Lowe’s nor Home Depot have a traditional wedding registry. You can only ask for gift cards. That would be nice because we are remodeling our house and could definitely use stuff for that! But how do you register for bathroom tile, you know?

Bummer! I just assumed that they did. They’re missing an opportunity.

I spoke to someone at Lowe’s and explained that they were missing out on a big market. They said they were “working on it” but didn’t sound too promising…

How fun!!!! We had a blast at the wedding registry. And our friends and family were very generous.

It was a lot more fun than I imagined it would be!

We have a wedding ring quilt that my aunt made for us for our wedding with the date embroidered in it. That’s probably my favorite and she has passed away, so it is a good remembrance.

An FYI for a crockpot – just get a regular crocker, but buy a light timer for like when you go on vacation. You can use that to make yours a programmable crockpot. Plus you can use that time when you go on vacation!

That quilt sounds wonderful! I still have the quilt my mom made me when I was a baby. 🙂

We registered, but no one has asked us where we are registered! I think we are just going to get money and gift cards (which is fine – we will go and buy off our register). Here in NZ registering for weddings isn’t the done thing so even though it isn’t polite to put the info on the invite I think we should have because no one thinks to ask if we are registered.

I definitely think there are cultural and generational differences. My parent’s generation is very “buy off the registry”. My generation not as much–or they want to do it online (which is why we also registered at Amazon). Me personally, I’d much rather give a couple cash. I know how expensive weddings are and I know they could use cash or gift cards. So that’s what I do!

We had a destination wedding – and only my Mom and daughter and my husbands parents and son were in attendance. I was 32 and my husband was 40 when we got married, so we didn’t even both with registry. It was the perfect wedding – small and intimate!

A destination wedding is sounding pretty nice right now. 🙂

A funny wedding registering story – we also were registered at Macys. We only had an old set of everyday dishes (leftover from my starter marriage – had to go!), so we were looking at several different patterns of Noritake dishware. My thoughtful husband shielded me from any on-lookers while I stuck my face in the cereal bowl to make sure it was the right shape for licking ice cream out of without getting any on my nose! Yes, I’m a bowl-licker – no, I didn’t actually lick it! But it’s been a fun story to share with the kids 🙂

I think Lowes and Home Depot need to get on the ball – that would be a great place to make a wish list!

    1. Lisa Eirene

Hahaha! You had to test the goods before buying, totally understand. 🙂

I agree, more people getting married are older and probably already homeowners. I think Lowe’s and Home Depot are missing the boat.
