Fat kitty probably didn’t want to eat because his gums were sore. I feel like that after a deep cleaning and the tech was a little rough. Not wanting to eat.

I love the lupine flower (the blue one) on your hike. I finally have room to try these and I planted some in my garden this year. I don’t know if they will bloom or not this year, but I hope they do.

Do you get lots of mosquitoes? We get them pretty bad here and the black flies are the *worst*. Bug spray is mandatory.

I didn’t think about that, maybe you are right. He ate yesterday and is eating today but not like he used to eat. So that is a little weird. Maybe he is sore. He seems to be getting back to normal though.

Lupine! I can always count on one of my readers being able to identify the flowers I find! Thanks!

Oregon is weird–some areas do get bad mosquitoes and some don’t. Usually they aren’t an issue when we go hiking but this weekend I did get some mosquito bites and wished I’d had bug spray. 🙁 This winter was so mild I think the bugs are going to be horrendous!

What a great hike you had on Saturday, so beautiful. Maybe you know it already but just saying: don’t let Bella walk on the road at 90 degrees weather, it’s too hot for her, she can burn her feet. With 90 degrees (which we luckily don’t have too much) I never walk Bella during the day, only early in the morning or late in the evening. Do you have a garden at home? You might buy a childrens swimming pool so Bella can cool off on hot days. We have one for Bella and she loves it.

Awww I can totally understand your pet mommy heart breaks if you see your babies like that. You’re a good Mom to them.

Yeah with her history of paw injuries we are super careful. The hike was in the woods and when we were walking back she was on the gravel/grass side until we got to the parking lot. I bought Bella a kiddie pool last summer! Unfortunately she won’t play in it. I have no idea why. I am going to try again this summer.

Thanks Frank. I hate when my babies are hurt. 🙁

Poor Fat Kitty! I hope he feels better soon. The vet is always super stressful for my cats, too.

I love reading your hiking posts. How old is Bella now? How old was she when you started taking her hiking? I found a 6 week old puppy abandoned on a walking trail near my house last month. I think she’s some kind of lab/shepherd mix (super adorable!!!) Of course, she’s only 11 weeks now, so we have a while before we can go hiking together, but I am so excited to take some trips with her when she gets older.

Oh wow! I can’t believe someone left a puppy on a trail! 🙁 So glad you rescued her.

We got Bella when she was 10 months old. Her foster mom had done amazing work training her and so she came to us pretty trained. We got a dog trainer for about 4 sessions to work on some commands. As for hiking we took her hiking after we worked with the dog trainer. She pulled on the leash and didn’t listen to commands very well but after we practiced that stuff and she got better, it was safe to take her hiking. So she’s been hiking pretty much since we got her. She loves it! She loves being outside and smelling every fern in the forest. 🙂 She’s 2.5 now.
