Heyyy, so glad to hear you and Logan are doing well! Codie had a tongue tie too and I wish we’d had it fixed earlier. It was 2 weeks of nursing 20+ times a day and a month of pumping before I started getting second opinions. And all the lactation consultants I saw agreed that pediatricians have a tendency to downplay the impact, just because there’s not much research on it. But it made a huge difference for us.

Also, omg the night sweats…I woke up drenched in sweat for weeks. :/

Did things get better when you got the tongue fixed?
No one told me about the temperature fluctuations or the night sweats. They are the WORST. I really hope it doesn’t last that long!

Oh my gosh – the picture with the pink swaddle and itty bitty hat – so cute!

A friend of my mom’s made that hat. It’s so cute!

Sounds like you’re taking good care of yourself and your little family. LOTS to adjust to, but you’ve got this. Lucky Logan to have such doting parents/grandparents/family pets!

We are trying to take care of ourselves. Logan comes first, obviously, which means we have days where there is a definite lack of sleep in our house!

Just caught up with you – I am glad that you ended up supplementing with formula. I couldn’t breast feed at all – Hannah just could not latch on, but she took to a bottle like no ones business. I didn’t have any emotional ties to I HAVE to breast feed, but had a woman come by my house from the LeLeche league (not sure how to spell that) and when I told her I was bottle feeding, she went kind of crazy and told me I gave up too easily. I was like “Hannah is hungry, and I am not able to feed her.” And I liked that I was able to see how many ounces she was actually drinking.

You’ll get into a routine soon enough – just enjoy this time with him! 😀

Ugh that’s awful! I’ve heard so many negative things about LLL, hence I have no reached out to be involved with them. I don’t need that kind of pressure! I can’t believe they told you you gave up too easily. Like you said, your baby was hungry. That’s what was important. And I agree, the one upside to pumping is that I do know exactly how much I am feeding Logan. So that’s good!

OMG the temperature issues are so awful!! I remember just being drenched in sweat for no reason and one time I got so chilled I was shivering and it was in late July when the temperature outside was over 90 and the humidity was 100%. My husband thought I might have an infection, but luckily my mom was there and told him I was ok. I cried and got angry over really stupid stuff too.

With my first child I wasn’t able to breast feed due to my issues post partum – I had to be hospitalized for heart problems. I breast fed my second son for 6 months, but I ended up having to switch to formula because he wasn’t getting enough. Sounds like you have a good attitude about it and I wish you the best. As you said, the most important thing is your son’s health.

It’s nice to hear I was not the only one with this issue because I also thought I was getting sick or something and kept taking my temperature. It was crazy. And NO ONE told me about this side effect and it wasn’t in anything I read, either.

Thanks for sharing your story, Lisa, it’s nice to hear about other experiences and successes. I’m more okay now with formula than I was that first week when we had to supplement. I’m able to pump enough now that we don’t need to supplement but if we had to make the switch to formula in the future, I don’t feel quite as horrible about that idea like I did in the beginning. Like you said, it’s about the baby and not what I want.
