Excellent post! I have had one question going through my brain since your week one post. I typically count calories and fat grams. I like the idea of only counting calories, but i’m curious if you ever ran in to any trouble by not counting the fat too? Or what your thinking is on that in general?

Counting calories was simple for me. Since I was writing it all by hand I didn’t want to bog myself down with tracking EVERYTHING. That idea was overwhelming. I just counted calories. Now that I use My Fitness Pal on my phone to track it does it all for me–fat, sodium, sugar, etc. I still do not pay attention to fat grams. I just don’t feel the need to. I lost the weight just tracking calories, I’ve kept it off, and it works for me.

If you think it would be beneficial, do it. Or ask your doctor/nutritionist what they think.

I like the simple, methodical approach you have to losing weight. I also think it’s great advice to not take on too much at once. I started with the food, then moved on to exercising, eventually trying running for the first time. It’s help me lose about 47 lbs. so far! And I still eat things I love, like pizza and chocolate, but I do smaller portions and lower-calorie options. Great post!

Congrats on the 47 pounds! Great job!

I think the problem that A LOT of people have is trying to do too much all at once. It’s an “all or nothing” attitude that is hard to live up to. Taking on little parts of it each week will be less stressful.

Many people don’t know that they are drinking their calories and that is why they can’t shed the weight. One lady at work is drinking her calories with cool drink. The more I say this to her, the more she do not listen.

Some of those things (soda, etc) are hard to give up. When I first transitioned to diet soda it was a WEIRD few days. It tasted weird to me. Then I got used to it. Then when I wanted to switch to sparkling water instead of diet soda I had that same weird transitional period. But now I like sparkling water and drinking regular soda is nasty!
