      I LOVE condiments. Michael actually gives me a really hard time about how many salad dressings I collect. But hey I like variety!

    Lisa, this is a great post. I really love that you say you “honor the 90/10 Rule.”

    I’m curious about when you talk about sugar and sweets — that’s a tough one and I agree about not restricting. Do you crave sweets, or do you just want to reward yourself a little bit?

    That’s hilarious that you were motivated to clean out your fridge! Ours is bursting with produce because we picked up our CSA share yesterday. Other highlights include 4.5 quarts of homemade kimchi, tempeh and tofu, a giant pack of tortillas we bought still-warm from the local Mexican market, and a good array of condiments. =)

      I do crave sweets and when I crave them and get into the habit of eating sweets I eat more. So I try to eat them in moderation.

      Do you like doing the CSA? We’re planning on having a veggie garden this summer but I’ve thought about doing it. Those fresh tortillas sound wonderful to me, too!

        One approach is to incorporate more sweet veggies — sweet potatoes, beets, carrots, even cabbage — into your diet so you’re still getting a sweet taste without the actual sugar. It can really help reduce cravings! (Sorry, here ends the unsolicited advice, taking off my health coach pants! ;p )

        We love our CSA and are lucky enough to have it year-round. I actually post our share contents with recipes or storage tips every other week. There is a definite learning curve to using everything up, but we both eat a lot more vegetables now!

          We almost exclusively eat sweet potatoes (never regular ones). Lots of carrots, but I could eat more of them. I try to eat fruit when I’m really craving sweets. Like this week I ate strawberries for dessert.

          I just checked out your website and saw your CSA stuff. It looks like you get a lot of great produce. I’ve considered signing up for it but this summer we are planning on having a veggie garden. Maybe this winter?

    Our fridge is pretty good, other than the cookie dough in the freezer LOL!

    It’s actually kind of empty now because it is about shopping day.

    My food is pretty good, but there are those things I like to have like homemade marshmallow fluff (which I need to make again). We actually have a fair amount of chocolate in the house. John is a complete chocaholic. That has to be put up high out of reach so I don’t nibble on it, which becomes a problem in the summer because the chocolate moves to the fridge.

    For me, healthy eating means eating real food. Full fat cheeses, milk, no diet stuff.

      I’m lucky that Michael doesn’t like sweets much so if I made the decision to not have any candy/ice cream/dessert in the house we’d be good. I just can’t seem to get to that spot yet.

    As far as the questions – I feel like I’m still learning. I think I am too restrictive right now. Healthy for me involves eating as many fruits and veggies as I can, and not giving in to my sweet tooth all too often. The little bites here and there REALLY add up.

    I do consider my diet healthy most of the time, but there is always something I could do better at. I also LOVE fruit and veggies, and have decided that Fage cups with the fruit on the side is one of the most delicious things I could have found. Greek yogurt is yummy!

    Something I feel needs to be addressed is sodium. I love Pita pit for instance, but I fell gross for hours afterwords. I think it has to do with the sodium in the meats, or something. I am also trying to cut back on “boxed food” but am still searching for that balance. Sometimes a girl just craves Kraft Mac n cheese! (Although with Michael’s recipe, maybe not!!)

    I love that you used this challenge as an opportunity to clean out your fridge. I am NOT doing it for that very same reason. My fridge is a war zone right now. BTW – WHAT is picked cheese? Is that a typo??? And have you and Michael ever had fights about food? Maybe it’s the oldest child in me, but when I buy something healthy, or a not-so healthy treat, I get madder than heck at hubby if he eats it. I mean, crying, pitching a fit angry. Which is silly, b/c we’re supposed to share, and how was he supposed to know I promised myself the last slice of chocolate cake after my run last night? (Nope, not bitter……)

      The jar was pickled feta cheese. It was so good! Great for pizza toppings too. πŸ™‚

      I love eating fruit, which is high in sugar and carbs but I can’t give it up.

      Oh my god your hubby ate the last piece of chocolate cake?!?!!?!?! I would have lost it too. πŸ™‚

    OMG Cougar Gold Cheese is AMAZING. I have had it in a couple years and it’s one of the things on my “no-no” list now. Ugh.
