I love Cynthia… she is so awesome.

this is SO refreshing – easier to be positive, yes? there are so many things to like about winter and about Oregon… hearing people complain over small things gets old to me. πŸ™‚

    I LOVE our winters:

getting our annual cord of wood – loading into the trailer, driving it home, unloading and stacking it in our shed – (a GREAT workout on a cold day!)

waking up to snow and adding some Bailey’s to the coffee cup! πŸ˜‰

long walks in the snow… so quiet and bright!

holiday tree lighting @ Pioneer Square the Friday after Thanksgiving!

SKIING! Bachelor and Meadows are some fantastic advanced ski runs

and that rain? keeps everything beautiful and green! πŸ˜€

I HATE the rain. I don’t mind the cold, I can get over the gray skies but the rain is the worst. And I do get sucked into the group mentality of complaining about the winter. I’m trying to change that this time!

I have never been to the tree lighting ceremony. I need to do that.

  2. Kelly @ Happy Texans

Love the positive attitude because I typically dread winter and this gives me a different outlook on some aspects of it.

What do I llike about winter?
    Fire in the fireplace
    Christmas ale
    Snuggling
I can get dressed up without sweating
    Hot drinks
    Christmas lights
    The end of winter!!! LOL

      Christmas Lights!!! Good one!

  3. Beth @ Beth's Journey

Cute post! I love hot coffee and tea, plus wearing boots, scarves, and sweaters the most about the colder months!

    1. Lisa Eirene

I have a ton of scarves. I rotate through them all winter.

  4. Tiff @ Love Sweat and Beers

I too love winter brews. I am a huge Christmas fanatic, so that always perks me up as well. I think I’d like snowshoeing too, but I have yet to try it. Maybe one day… πŸ™‚

You should definitely try snowshoeing. It is so much fun!

  5. Jill

I love sweaters, fires, boots, scarves and board games by the fire. I love hot chocolate and cuddling with my daughter. (I really miss biking- but I am trying not to let my brain go there)!!! πŸ™‚

I miss the bike rides too! πŸ™

  6. Eleah

i love running in the rain! I don’t like biking in the rain, though, or having to carry an umbrella specifically so my books don’t get wet walking around campus… but rain running makes it worth it!

    1. Lisa Eirene

I really wish I liked running in the rain! I just don’t.

  7. Jenny

Ahh, I can totally relate. Winter is just dreary. BUT I do love fresh, white snow, big, thick scarves, a hot bowl of soup, and THE HOLIDAYS!!

    1. Lisa Eirene

I do love the snow! That’s a bonus. I wish Oregon actually GOT snow that stuck around a bit.

    Love this post!

Call me a weirdo, but this Oregonian kind of likes the rain. πŸ™‚ I think more than that, though, I just like living in a part of the country where I can enjoy a variety of weather, without anything too extreme (e.g., the 30+ straight days of 100+ degree heat they had in Texas, for example or the sub-zero temps of Minnesota)

I love the colder/wetter months because of:

    -Sweaters
    -Coats
    -Boots!!!
    -Seasonal microbrews
-Seasonal coffee (Peet’s Holiday Blend – yum!)
    -Soup and chili
    -Baking
    -Did I say boots yet?
-Storms (especially at the beach – yowsa!)
    -The occasional snow
-The sound of rain against the window
    -Fires in the fireplace
-Cats being more cuddly than ever
-The smell of wet Douglas fir trees

I would really hate to live in a place where the temperature never gets below 60, and where I have to use air conditioning in the Summer (I HATE HATE HATE A/C), so the trade-off is definitely worth it to me. Don’t get me wrong, I love warm and dry weather too but I wouldn’t want a constant diet of it. πŸ™‚

I’m with you–I like mild weather–not too hot, not too cold. Usually the NW is okay in that regards.

I love the sound of rain, but not being IN the rain!

Hi Lisa, like you, I’m not crazy about the rain, but the cold is fine. Things I really like about the winter months? Our fireplace, Christmas music (much to the chagrin of my husband, I play it alot. in December But he’s a good sport), get togethers with friends, patterned tights, not having to shave my legs every other day (much to the chagrin of my husband again. Kidding!! πŸ™‚ ), home made soup, sales in January and wearing capes and shawls. I can’t wait to try some seasonal microbrews this year too. (I’ve only just discovered that I like beer this past year) have a wonderful day.

    1. Lisa Eirene

I’ve recently discovered patterned tights! So fun!!
