We have been the invisible table before and have walked out. You can tell the difference between a server who is overwhelmed and one who is just bad. I am surprised the manager didn’t come out and talk to you.

I do have to say that we get funny laughs over bad service when we reminisce LOL!

Yes, had it been an issue of short-handed staff and the waiter said so, I’d be more understanding. But he was just bad. Period.

Thanks for posting this, Lisa! The food sounds very good. With that said, based on your unfortunate treatment I’ll never dine there. The bad service, “invisible table” experience is unforgivable, and no amount of flavor and presentation can make up for it. There are so many wonderful restaurants in Portland working very hard to provide a great experience, I couldn’t bring myself to reward a place that’s not even trying.

Go to the one in Sellwood. We’ve never had a bad experience there.

Grrr! That sounds like terrible service. sigh. But, on a bright note, lovely flowers, and happy belated 4th anniversary to you and Michael!!!!

    1. Lisa Eirene

Yes the flowers were fantastic! I was so happy!

I’m so sorry your anniversary was tainted by what was supposed to be an enhancement to the day 🙁 I have had some crappy service before and just not left a tip. That usually gets their attention as we walk out the door. I know it’s probably really mean but sometimes I just can’t handle it.

    And HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! 🙂

Thank you Sara! 🙂 I’ve let the bad experience go. Now we are just enjoying our vacation and celebrating.

Ah, crap. Sorry you had such a bad evening. I HATE bad service; I agree, you’re paying them for good service and you should expect it! And there are tons of other restaurants. On another note, happy anniversary!

No matter how great the food is, if the service is bad I won’t go back.

I’ve had many bad experiences. Restaurants tend to be hit or miss, don’t they? I used to be a waitress, so I think I am more picky than a lot of people.

I tend to stick to the same few restaurants and just rotate them. I find I get really good service because the staff recognise me and know I am a regular. Not very adventurous, I know! We will only try new places if we have had them recommended to us by family or friends.

I’ve never been a waitress but if I was, I’d be nice because my tips depend in it!

That’s cool that you have done regular places. We do too and it’s cool to develop a relationship with the people there.

Here in NZ we don’t work for tips. Wait staff are paid $15ish a hour. I still got tips (some people tip for great service, or a couple of times because my top was lower cut than I thought, lol) but we don’t rely on them to live. If some of the wait staff here had to be nice to get paid they would die hungry!
