We are leaving for a week’s vacation on July 15 – AND – my son is going to overnight camp for 4 weeks – last year he went for 2 weeks and I gained 4 pounds! I am trying to gear up as best as I can for this year. I think not having alcohol 7 nights in a row will help. And keeping up with water and exercising when possible.

Good luck with the challenge! I think skipping the alcohol and drinking a ton of water will help a lot.

Vacations KILL me. I always struggle with a healthy diet when I go on vacation..and unfortunately, when my routine is derailed, I struggle to get back on.

    And the food pictures….YUMMY

It is hard. So much temptation to eat yummy foods…and keep eating them! It’s even harder to get back on track once you get home. Exactly why I try to keep my workout routine as close to normal as I can on vacation. It doesn’t make me lose my mind and go crazy with food!

I don’t go on vacations very often, because I just graduated after spending 5 years at university. I did, however, splash out last year. My boyfriend and I went to Rarotonga in the Cook Islands for 5 days. It was amazing, and I didn’t have to detox or worry about what I was eating because it was all good food. Lots of fresh fruit, as you would expect on a pacific island. We also did quite a bit of walking, and our other mode of transportation was a motor scooter which takes a lot of arm and core strength too drive. The worst part was coming back from a tropical, sunny climate to a rainy winter!

Oooh that sounds like HEAVEN! I would love to be on a tropical island with fresh fruit and umbrella drinks…

My issue is that I feel like I am on vacation. I need to keep telling myself that this is home and all this traveling is NOT vacation. Really hard to do!!! Any tips????

I think your situation is a bit different. You’re in a foreign city and you want to do and try everything! Maybe give yourself one day a week to play “foodie tourist” and stay on your plan the other days?
