Wow! Congratulations–you should be so proud of yourself. That is awesome! 🙂

I’m pursuing my passion to become a health coach. A scary decision at first, but I haven’t regretted it for one moment since.

    1. Lisa Eirene

      Thanks, Michelle!

That sounds like a great goal to work for. How do you start something like that?

  2. Marie

Congrats, you look fantastic and happy. I hope we’ll be able to meet up for a beer some day!

    1. Lisa Eirene

I would LOVE to hang out with you and drink beer. When I saw your post on your trip to Seattle I thought dang…so close yet so far. If you are interested, I’m always up for playing tour guide if you visit Portland. My suggestion is the weekend of the annual Brewfest. 😉

    I’m so proud to call you a success and a friend. I can tell you that your devotion to exercise is so admirable and definitely a major factor in keeping the weight off. I’m glad you love it so much. Whenever I’ve dropped it, the weight creeps up. You are truly an inspiration. {{{hugs}}}

    1. Lisa Eirene

Thanks sweetie! I appreciate it. And I’m so glad that we met through the blog and became real life friends. Speaking of which, let me know when you’re in town again. I was bummed we missed each other last time.

      1. Carbzilla

We’ll be down the 24th for a party on the 25th. Maybe we can do lunch at LardoPDX? We decided we needed “work” weekends at the condo in Sept to get it really finished. We’ve just been having too much fun! Cady should have a Seattle dog sitter by then so we’ll at least be able to go for a bike ride. 🙂

  9. dietmaven

Big Congratulations!! I’ve been reading your blog for about a year now and I always find it intelligent, inspiring, and positive. I love that you’re a NW neighbor and do the same activities that I do (hiking and biking) – it makes your journey and continued success so much more personal (and real) to my own situation.

Best wishes for the next 4 years!

    1. Lisa Eirene

Thank you for reading. It’s nice to get feedback from long term readers. 🙂

Since you’re in the NW too, you should check out this girl’s website: http://allisonoutside.net/. Not only are her photos absolutely beautiful, but she writes about hikes in Washington. Maybe you’d like it too.

      1. dietmaven

Awesome site! Thanks for the recommendation. It’s definitely great eye candy and a great way to figure out where to go hike.

        1. Lisa Eirene

I really enjoy it. I hope you do too. 🙂

  10. Katie Squires

Incredible, truly incredible, to have done it in the first place is AMAZING but to have MAINTAINED that is even more amazing 🙂 Congrats 🙂

    1. Lisa Eirene

They say maintenance is the hardest part. I haven’t found that…I thought the hardest part was STARTING to lose weight. Once I found that groove, it was much easier.

You inspire me! I hope I can keep the weight off, too!

At the start of this year I stepped on the scales and saw I was over 87kg (190lb). I decided that enough was enough. I hated being fat. I hated those fat rolls that made sitting down uncomfortable. I hated the thighs that rubbed together. I hated having to buy clothes from the old ladies section because they hid my fat. So, I decided to change. I started slow, making it a goal to limit sweets, eat more of the good stuff and to exercise at least 3 times a week.

As of this morning I have lost 11.8kg (28lb). I go to the gym 5 times a week. I do 2 boxing classes and I lift weights 3 times a week. I still have another 7-10kg left, but I’m ok with that. My loss is slow, 2-3 pounds a month, but as long as it comes off I’m happy. I’ve gone from wearing size 16 tops to wearing size 10. My pants were 16’s and now my 14’s are falling off me (unfortunately 12’s are still a little too snug… Maybe next month!)

    1. Lisa Eirene

Thanks for sharing your story. I am so impressed! You made a decision and have stuck to it. Once you made that decision, didn’t it seem easier to stick to it? I think when it finally “clicks” it’s just GOING TO HAPPEN.

Going down in pants sizes is one of my favorite memories. Cool feeling, huh?

  12. Leigh

Brava….thanks for being such a wonderful inspiration

  13. Lori

Congratulations!! Wow, your story is so inspiring. Like Katie said – awesome that you were able to work hard and lose the weight but also to maintain the weight loss.

  16. Marc

Hi Lisa and congratulations on your 4 year anniversary! Did you do something special to commemorate this very commendable occassion? You asked “How are you going to change your life for the better?” I’m going to hold my feet to the fire and finish the journey from fat to fit because getting old ain’t easy:)

    1. Lisa Eirene

Good question, Marc, no I didn’t do anything to commemorate beyond writing about it today. It’s funny, I’m so usedto “this me” that I don’t think about it that much. But I probably should take a moment and remember how far I’ve come and pat myself on the back.

I love your response. I know you can do it!

  17. Ginger F

    You’re awesome!

  18. Krissy

    1. Lisa Eirene

Thanks, Beth! You know, I really DID grow to love fitness. It took a little while but once I learned to love it, I didn’t want to give it up.

  20. Allison

Bravo! I admire your determination and follow-through. I hope that you continue to inspire others for four more years…and four more after that…and four more after that!

    1. Lisa Eirene

Thank you, Allison! I will toast to that!
