I can’t say that sours are my favorite style of beer, but I’ve learned to like a number of them in the past year. I tried a “sour beer” tasting class once, and we tried something like 10 different types in one night! Lots of puckering went on that evening.

I agree that sometimes, a night out is just essential to good vibes, and I think scattering a few in the month leads to a better attitude about everything in my life (even if the workout the next day isn’t up to snuff, lol.)

I agree! Which is why I am trying to make an effort to schedule more “girl dates” with my various friends.

I cannot imagine doing a tasting of all sour beers. I had a few tastes of Robyn’s samples but I couldn’t handle most of them. Out of like 10 samples she got I think I liked 2? But not enough to drink a full beer. When you went to your class did they have snacks in between each tasting to help get rid of the pucker?

looks like a fun girl’s arvo!

It was definitely a fun night out!

You need to go to New Orleans for a real muffaletta (although I hate olives LOL)!

I do not have girls night out enough. My sister is really my best friend here and we have a hard time getting our schedules to coincide. While I don’t consider it a girl’s night out, I do make a point to go out with my mother once a week. My parents are getting older so fast.

I would love to go to New Orleans! There’s tons of food I’d try there.

That’s nice that you are spending time with your parents. My family lives in another state so it’s difficult to do that as much.

My friend and I ended up at Cascade by accident last month and we keep saying we need to go back! I’d never tried sour beer before (and honestly I’m not much of a beer drinker in general), but I *really* liked the Winter Gose.

    1. Lisa Eirene

Oooh they didn’t have the Winter Gose when we went. I’ll have to look for that one next time. Did you eat anything there?

      1. Christa

Yeah I had some kind of sandwich…I want to say ham & gruyere? Whatever it was, it was simple but super tasty!

        1. Christa

Looked it up: Ham + Gruyere + Pickle Panini. Mmmmm.

          1. Lisa Eirene

The ham and gruyere was what I originally planned on ordering when I checked out the brewery’s website. It sounded so tasty. Then I was swayed by the Italian meats and tapanade…Mmmmm…next time!

Yums! I love girl dates too. Always fun to catch up!

I love girl’s nights, and I LOVE beer samplers. You live in such a great city with so many microbrews. Dennis and I are hoping to head down your way before the end of the year (when he finds a job), and give some of your amazing microbreweries a go. As for sour beers, they’re not my favorites… So happy you had a great night out.

Yes, we are very spoiled in Portland. And I remember that whenever I travel outside of the northwest and see the beer selections! 😉

  7. Diane, fit to the finish

Sounds like a great night out! I don’t have enough girls night outs around here. Must correct that!

I have always thought that I had been to a pub crawl. I had crossed it off my bucket list! I went to many, many more bars than 3… but I didn’t crawl. Rats! Now I have to do it again!!! 🙂

I nibble when I drink too! Grrrrr! Sometimes you just have to let go! 🙂

      Practice makes perfect!! 🙂

With the nibbling or the crawling??? 🙂
